if you connect the outside light up to the lighting circuit it will be illegal under part p building regs
you need to tell the building reg department fill in loads of forms it also needs to be connected to a RCD device
the only other way is to get someone who is part p qualified to fit it

This illustrates just how ridiculous the Part P building regulations are!
Fitting a plug onto the end of the cable from your newly fitted exterior security light does not make the existing bodged wiring safe does it?

I am going to undo the rocker switch. I assume I'll see the cables than are shown in the ceiling space, unscrew them and then pull them up from the ceiling space.0
