I've got an extended kitchen. At the back of the kitchen is a light switch with two rockers(?). One of the rockers controls the interior light in the kitchen. The second rocker I think used to control a security light on the outside of the house.
The security light has been removed. Inside the ceiling space of the extended part of the kitchen I have taken the pictures below. Can I wire up a new security light to the wire block - would it be safe?
Or would it be better to attach a plug to the security light and plug it into a wall socket?
Thanks

Christ.........I would forget your idea & get a professional in.......that wiring looks extremely dangerous to me ( & I'm no professional !! )0

Yes I agree with post 2 that wiring should be in some sort of connection box (forgot the name now)
You can wire a security light to a main plug no problems but if its connect any other way you may need a electrician0

Buying a new connector won't make it any safer!
It is the wiring that needs to be replaced with the correct type of properly insulated cable e.g. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0  Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Theres a B&Q around the corner from me so I'll be able to buy the junction box and cable from there.
@ espesso - Would I be right in assuming you mean to use the cable from the rocker switch to the jucntion box and then to the security light.0

The main problem is that the wiring shown is simply a bodge and it should be redone using the correct cable. This has an additional outer sheath for protection and it should be secured, not hanging in free space. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
