Experian CreditExpert 2nd free trial

I received the email below, reactivated my membership and promptly got charged £14.99 despite the small print saying I won't get charged until the end of my 30 day trial. Not impressed.

Did you call Experian for a refund?
    Mistakes happen.

Why oh why don't you smiply get a £2 statutory report?
I ordered mine Monday and I'm still waiting for the PIN but at least I don't have money going off my card, so why do it?

I got the same email, but i'd rather just get the £2 report, as trying to cancel credit expert is a bit of an ordeal!
Debt free and staying that way!

Got the same email. Was considering it next month as I want to check a few things are updated.

Please let us know the outcome of the incorrect charging.

I had set up credit expert to monitor my finances after getting a mortgage.

Now that my score has settled back at 999, I've recently cancelled my subscription - straight away they wanted to reduce the £7/month subscription to £3.50/month. That was enough to convince me to cancel it - I told the guy that if they were happy to rip me off at £7/month, then how do I know I'm not also being ripped off at £3.50/month, and that I didn't want any more sales patter, I wanted the cancel button hit. Thankfully he obliged

I think it's £15pm now. You get the 'score' included 'free' but it used to be a tenner plus the score if you wanted it.

Rip off. I'll only use the £2 service in future.

If their prices were not much more say £5pm i'd prob sign up for some time. £15 is a huge amount of money to see something which really shouldn't change that often.

Lol yes you're so right! I had tried a few days before to get the £2 report but was given the error below. As I don't have a cheque book this would have involved going to the Post Office to get postal orders, which I have done before but wanted to avoid doing again. I'll call them on Monday...

You could also have retried if it was down?

I ordered mine on Monday, got the PIN saturday morning.
So you do have to wait 5 days, but I always recommend people do that rather than sign up for the trial.

Equifax is immediate I believe if you don't specifically need Experian.

The cost of the subscription service is very overpriced. I don't see any justification or need to pay for a subscription and the £5 to see your score that means nothing is such a con. The monthly charge was more like £1 then it is worth it. I am amazed they get any custom with their current prices. The only people who can run a subscription to this service are those with high earnings and probably less need of it. People like regular joe who struggles to stay on top of his finances and forfeits gas bills in favour of food bills and needs to make sure his debts are in order cant even afford the subscription. Come on experian sort it out we dont all have chinese butlers!

Exactly the same thing has happened to me and I am furious.

I received the email offering me a trial on 9th March, Cancelled the trial on 11th March and have a charge of £14.99 pending on my debit card for tomorrow 14th March

You can't advertise a "Free Trial" and then charge - even if the charge is applied at the end of 30 days. Charging at the end of 30 days isn't "free" rather it is just offering the service at a charge on 30 day terms.

    What absolute jokers.
