    And are you sure the teller didn't fill in the new paying in slip on your behalf? Though I think it needs a signature, so it seems unlikely you wouldn't be aware of this.

    No signature required ...
    Slip has boxes for Account Name, Account Number, Branch Sort Code (which are all on the Debit Card), Date, and amount paid in.
    So perfectly possible for the counter staff to complete it.
