HALIFAX Service - Can it get any worse... probably

I could swear this was the Daily Mail website, but lo! No headline saying "NOW THE BANKS YOU OWN WANT YOU TO WRITE PAYING IN SLIPS".
Unless you're excluding the bit where one of the branch staff called you a name and kicked you in the knackers, none of that sounds at all like bad service. Not even inattentive or so-so. It sounds alright.
Perhaps you're just miserable and get unjustifiably angry over petty things, or expect forelock-tugging deference from everyone who sadly happens to have a commercial relationship with you? What paper do you read again? Odds on the Mail.
btw, people who label themselves "grumpy" and think it could possibly be a positive are cretins. "I'm miserable, petty and bigoted and let it show, aren't I amusing!"urs sinserly,

If Halifax had details of these direct debits, Santander must have provided them and failed to cancel them. Almost certainly Santander's fault.I just moved from Santander to Halifax and it's not gone as smoothly as I was let to believe it would. First off, I had problems with 3 DDs which Halifax assured me had been switched to them-they hadn't so I incurred fees as there was no money in my old Santander account.
Complaints information is on their web site. Complain to the right people and this should get resolved. You've either got a sorting office problem or more likely somebody's made an error on the account. Either way, flag this up with the Customer Relations team (not branch / call centre) and you'll have your card within a few days.I opened the account in November and still haven't received my debit card (they've apparently sent three to me!).
Flag this up when you speak to Customer Relations. If it was a branch that promised you the payment, they are responsible for making it. The call centre staff member wouldn't have any knowledge of that process. And, when I opened the account I was promised a £50 switching bonus. I called last month since I still hadn't received it and the call centre person hadn't a clue what I was talking about so he said he's get a branch member to call me...still heard nothing.
Remember to ask for a goodwill payment when you call

Why do you need paying in slips - In Natwest you just hand over your cash and card to make a deposit.
Only if I get my mum to pay in money she has to do a slip as she does not know my card PIN number.
Paying in slips do seem a bit inefficient and a waste of paper in these modern times.0 -

I literally laughed out loud at that! lol. :rotfl:Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -
This will soon be the case but they decided not to implement chip& pin at the same time as moving counter for some reason. Why do you need paying in slips - In Natwest you just hand over your cash and card to make a deposit.

I didn't say it was, planemad specifically said '...hand over your cash and card...' At the minute you can't do this as Halifax but you soon will be able to...0

OP: Why don't you just take yourself off the Marketing Preference list ? You can do this by ringing through to one of their contact centres, or ask them to remove you from it the next time you're "unfortunate" to enter one of their branches. They then won't be permitted to make you aware of any other products. . .0

Nat West provided me with a paying in book and it is required if you pay in via the ATM as it would be a MASSIVE help to them to credit your account, as they are not mind readers.
Halifax will be up on Chip&PIN in July so this will remove the requirement of slips at the counter - just like with Nat West who also have a similar system.
If the bank requires a paying in slip then so be it, after all it is hardly rocket science completing one is it?
As for the OP yeah you are grumpy, Halifax do try to have lots of front office staff in the bank helping customers, they have numerous options of how to do your transactions, you chose to queue up to go the counter, you could not be bothered to listen to what other options there were which in hindsight would have probably saved you time, in effect you queueing up is making it longer for those who have to queue up (eg passbook account holders)
Stop moaning about trivial things and enjoy life.........0 -

I use natwest machines to pay in, did you know you dont have to use the paying in book as it prints the ref number when you insert the envelope.0 -
