Help Cancelling Orange Contract

Hi,

I purchased a contract from orange on 28th Feb and was told that i would pay £10 a month. Orange have told me that i have been put on a £15 contract and can not find a record of £10 being mention to me on their system.

It has not quite been 14 days yet. What are my choices on cancellation. Orange said i can not cancel as i only have 7 days to do this. But i assumed that 14 days was the norm but can not find any evidence of this. Any info on this please?

Thanks.

The norm is 7. Some online/phone retailers offer more days.
If it was a phone deal request the audio record proving that it was £15, not £10. If they cannot prove it insist in cancellation.

You should have received confirmation paperwork stating your terms and the agreed commitment (and minimum term). Ask if this had been sent, and if they say no - you have another cause for complaint. As always, avoid phone contracts, as the consumer is always disadvantaged.

Orange don't do a £10 monthly plan, their cheapest is £15, where did you get the handset from? Which handset is it?

They've phased the £5 contracts out, I wasn't counting SIM only, I assumed OP got a handset with his contract

    They do.

    There's a 3-year one at £10.21 a month with 100 minutes and 300 texts.

For this month only, in stores, there's also the Dolphin 15 (50 mins, 250MB web, unlimited texts) or Canary 15 (100 mins, unlimited texts) plans available for £10.21 for the whole 2 year contract on the Nokia C2, Sony Ericsson Zylo, San Francisco from Orange, and Samsung Monte.

If you've gone for the latter plan, you'll be on a £15 plan, but with a £5 a month discount - look for "£120 Credit 24 Months" on your receipt.

DISCLAIMER: I work in an Orange shop, but I do not speak for the company. I am trying to help but if I'm wrong it's my fault not theirs. E&OE, and all that.
  • Dispute the contract and ask them for a copy of the telephone call (I am assuming it wasnt done in store)
    baldly going on...

Thanks. Yes i got it with an orange san francisco mobile by calling them direct on an 0800 number. The woman said to me clearly a number of times that it would be a discounted Dolphin line rental of £10 reduced from £15, as this was a special promotion and i would get the phone free. i got some paperwork sent to me a couple of days ago, but it has no terms, just a bog standard piece of paper showing my contract details and numbers etc.

But she has obviously 'forgotten' to record this discount on the system and now they are trying to get me to pay the full amount. I asked for phone records, they said they only record some conversations at random etc and that i cant cancel.

The staff tried to get hold of the sales person that made the same, but no one can find her and she doesnt pick up her phone. The best they can do is email her and see if 'she remembers' offering me a discount! What a scam!

After all this i finally spoke to a manger, apparently he will look into it and call me tommorow - I doubt he will call.

They are talking rubish. If this were true they would be able to put you on any expensive contract without your concent.
Stick to your guns: either proof or cancellation.
