Hiya,
Every year I buy my Scottish hubby a few scottish gifts to stop him being homesick. He always gets a haggis, black pudding, tunnock cakes, tunnock wafers, whiskey, man size tissues (they often come in a tartan box!!), a our willie or the brunes annual..... can anyone think of anything I can add to this to make it a bit different this year.
Many thanks

Try adding something about St Andrews, the home of golf. or Curling and the Winter Olympics since Scotland is the home country to both sports. Highland toffee, sporran; midge (insect) repellant
What area of Scotland is he from and I will do my best to find some things for you???"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Depending on where hubby is from last year i found some little magnets that had Doric phrases on them these went down a storm with hubbys uncle who his from Aberdeen and now lives in Canada he had great fun with them teaching his friends the words. Hubby also found them helpful as being from Glasgow sometimes doesn't understand some phrases hope this helps.0

How about getting some tablet, a Corries CD (I don't like them but my Scottish husband is fanatical about them), Scottish rugby stuff, irn bru, white pudding, macaroon bars, a book of Burn's poetry, Billy Conolly stuff, Chanter, a flag, skein dubh, they are my Scottish husband's ideas! Have fun.0

Some fantastic ideas especially the iron bru! How could I forget that! He's from just outside Stirling if that helps. Is tablet a bit like Fudge but nicer? Is tiffin Scottish?
Thanks again for some great ideas.January budget

If you search on-line for a scottish tablet recipe there are loads (I found one with pictures and they really helped. I don't still have the link though, sorry).
I made some recently and it was delicious. Kind of puts you off eating it when you see just how much sugar is in it, though.0 -
