Job interview; your views on this please;

I'd phone up and ask why they need them.0

It sounds to me like they are after proof that you have been working where you said you are working. It's probably nothing more sinister than that. It is correct that your payslips are yours and yours alone, and they are not entitled to see them just because they want to. You are well within your rights to ask why they want to see your payslips.
If for whatever reason they do end up seeing them and they query why you are considering a lower salary you can tell that it's because you want to work for them since they are a reputable company (even if they are obsessively nosey!).0 -

Supply them, its not that much of a big deal is it really.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -
Would this sample of payslips reveal any more information than an employer reference, application form or P45 would reveal - salary, NI number, confirmation that you are in employment?0

I have a job interview next week; just been reading documentation; i have to take my last 3 wage slips with me.
Now; i dont mind doing it; but is that actually legal?!? I find it slightly intrusive; and in previous employment; i have never been asked; so seems a little out of the norm;
It just seems a very strange etiquette and request; i find it completely irrelevant and i have even stated that my salary is lower than it actually is; as i would prefer to work for this company at a lower salary than i am on as a result of the career progression;
From a personal view; i think it is far too intrusive.Googlewhacker wrote: »Supply them, its not that much of a big deal is it really.
It is that big a deal when she has given the wrong figures to begin with. Does she admit she lied or make some excuse for not having the payslips. That is the dilemma she is in.0 -
If she had increased her salary then I would see it as a problem, as she has acutally reduced her salary she could turn this into a positive and go on about how she wanted to further her career etc etcThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

No matter how noble the intention, I can't see any positives to deliberately give misleading information.0 -

But then you are encouraging her to further dig a hole....The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Any comment further on that please?!? thank you.
It is irrelevant, unless you lied of course. Oh, you did!
If you try to manipulate people, this I suppose is what happens.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

That is the problem when you start fibbing, the hole gets bigger and bigger until it swallows you up. I am at a loss as to why she thought understating her pay was going to help her get a job.0
