Job interview; your views on this please;

I have a job interview next week; just been reading documentation; i have to take my last 3 wage slips with me.
Now; i dont mind doing it; but is that actually legal?!? I find it slightly intrusive; and in previous employment; i have never been asked; so seems a little out of the norm;
It just seems a very strange etiquette and request; i find it completely irrelevant and i have even stated that my salary is lower than it actually is; as i would prefer to work for this company at a lower salary than i am on as a result of the career progression;
From a personal view; i think it is far too intrusive.
Any comment further on that please?!? thank you.

It is pretty intrusive, but certainly not illegal. I am guessing that if you chose not to, you might as well not bother going to the interview.Gone ... or have I?0

that is extremely odd. What kind of job is it?0

Say you do not keep pay slips, they go straight in the bin.

And possibly miss out on the employment....great plan!The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

I do find it intrusive; it is for a retail job; fashion store manager.0 -
Possibly an attempt to make a realistic average wage for all interviewees - for example say you have one person who was paid £1500pm and another paid £1200pm there's a distinct chance that the lower wage would be more inclined to take a lower wage or be looking for a lower wage than the one at £1.5k. I know during previous interviews i have been asked what my last wage was, so this could also be a ploy to check the truth, some people will actively add a bit to their wage in order to attempt to increase the starting rate.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

But wageslips are not even correct representation of what you actually get.. Bonuses-paid once a year won't be on last three payslips, any benefits emloyer offers etc. .. I find it very intrusive and odd request. They should pay you what they think the job done is worth. Not what you got paid on your last job.0

Scan and photoshop your pay slip edit it to show your basic at £200 pw but you achieved a £3000 bonus every month for the turn over.0

tell them you get e payslips. It is intrusive and unnecessary0
