I think they're hoping that when the full network share comes in it'll resolve most of the problems, eventually there won't be an Orange network and a TMobile network, it'll just be one large network. TMobile has alot of spare capacity, Orange doesnt, once the network share is implemented it should even itself out

I'm on T-mobile and have been using Orange 3G in norfolk. Make sure you have data roaming switched on in your phone.

I get this up here in East Yorkshire at my home. After 3 months, Orange finally admitted that the cell site covering my area is over-subscribed. Changing the phone to using GSM solves the call issue but then you're doing internet browsing at old dial up speeds.

They don't give a toss. If you can leave and move to another network I suggest you do.

hammyman same problem in east yorkshire too

    where abouts are you ?

I had the same problem.. (i work in victoria). I thought it might be a problem with my phone, but apparently, after a phone call to orange, the 3G mast i was connected to turned out to be inactive or something?

Switch to GPRS and you shouldnt have a problem

Really? That unusual, as when the 3G roaming comes into effect it shouldn't be called Orange 3G, it should just be one name from what I read somewhere. And it is happening in April after some unconfirm reports.

Yup I know about the one in Victoria, heard it from someone else on another forum. Just hope when t-mobile signal comes over it is able to handle the demand... I just wish orange fixes there mast when it goes out. That's what I am frustrated about.

The name is changed using a SIM update. When I had T-Mobile roaming activated on my Orange SIM, Orange sent me a SIM update, which wasn't necessary for roaming but changed the name of T-Mobile's network to "Orange T-Mobile". This is annoying on the iPhone because it doesn't have space to display such a long network name and instead displays "Orange...". I hope the name isn't changed to "Everything Everywhere" for both networks as it will look similarly messy.

If they did, how long would it take for the first thread on here asking "I'm on Everything Everywhere and I can't get everything everywhere, is this reason enough for me to cancel my contract?" :)
  • I live in South East London and work in Canary Wharf. As others I have recieved no data 3G for several weeks now in my home or work area, rendering most of the functions on my phone useless.

I have just called Orange and Canary Wharf sounds in complete disarray, 2 masts down with no service update, one down with an April 15th fix date etc. The guy was very friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible but he just didn't have any info on fix dates. Oddly my home area has 3G apparently, but my data has gotten bad there too so I'm a bit puzzled by that.

Long and the short is they can't provide the service I need to use my phone and aren't likely to in the near future. Maybe the T-mobile join at April end will fix it but I'm not hanging around to find out. So long Orange. Anyone have any recommendations for the best networks? Vodafone always seem to be good but I doubt they'll offer me the same terms as I gather they are the most expensive.

T-Mobiles backhaul is substantially greater than Oranges.

MBNL was a joint 3/T-Mob venture for backhaul, Orange and T-Mobile merger put Everything Everywhere at 50% owner of MBNL with 3 the other....roaming on 3G is meant to give access to each others networks as 3 had the ball in thier court to get EE through the merger.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
