Poorly dog after neutering, feel like i'm being fobbed off by vets.

You know your dog, and if you are not happy with the recovery, make sure you get it seen. Take it to another vet if need be.
I had a one year old Yorkie that died 5 days after her spay. She was ok first day or two, but became withdrawn and wouldnt eat or drink, then from the third day she was back at the vets all day on a drip, and I sat with her overnight, and she seemed to pick up slightly on the fifth day, but then died overnight on the fifth night. They even opened her up again, but they couldnt see anything wrong. I did everything I could and it still wasnt enough.
I have changed vets since, and my new vet is very experienced (as were the last ones), and said that spaying is his least favourite procedure. He said it is made out to be straightforward and simple, but said in fact is one of the most complicated. (and this is from the man that successfully removed the hip from my other Yorkie with Legg Perthes.
Go with your instinct, even if it does turn out to be normal recovery symptoms.0 -
Thanks everyone. He is absolutely fine now luckily but I have changed vets because I just wasn't happy with the old ones. Surely if I am willing to pay for addional appointments then there is no reason for them to refuse?!
Oh well, you live and learn I guess
Although whoever said that neutering calms them down was lying :rotfl:he is even more crazy than before! Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0
