Am I being unreasonable?

Ok so I have had a claim on my house insurance for water damage and as a result a contractor was sent by the insurers to carry out some works. Whilst doing the works they damaged my fridge freezer large dent on the top and dent on the door.(they're noticeable !) They also forgot to seal the room and as a result my cream dining chairs were covered in red brick dust as well as a 3 seater fabric settee. I have complained to the insurer but they keep telling me to sort it with the contractor ! The contractor has offered £200 compensation.
To replace my fridge freezer is £312 cheapest I can find online for same model and then gosh knows how much for the furnitur to be cleaned but I would think around £100
Should I tell them to take a running jump or should I accept it? I will have to replace the fridge as it is driving me mad (yes slightly ocd) but the point is before they came it was in perfect condition and now it is not.
Tell me what you would do please as I do not want to be mean or unreasonable but I think its a pants offer
Thank you

Ask for details of their liability insurers and take it to them.0

The problem with claiming against someone else's insurance is that you are not entitled to new for old. Do you have accidental damage cover? If so I would be inclined to ask your insurers to deal with it (as a separate claim) and then let them pursue the liability insurers of the contractor. You can also claim any excess from them.0

No you are not being unreasonable.
They should put things right and it's not an adequate offer.
They are maybe hoping you might take the cash and put up with it, but it's your right not to do so.
I would refuse the offer and ask for their insurance details.
Have you looked into replacing the door?
Be careful of claiming off your own insurer, you will lose NCD and have premum increases for several years plus an excess.0 -
If it is an insurer appointed contractor they should be helping you with this, can't believe they have washed their hands of it.
Who is the insurer and contractor??0 -
I dont have accidental damage on my contents only my buildings. My thoughts were that the insurer insisted I use their appointed firm of builders and they have caused the damage. I think in all honesty it is the insurers job to put it right and claim what ever from the builders. The insurers are LLyods bit it's the loss adjuster dealing with it who I believe works for Llyods themselves who has told me to sort it with the builders.I explained as they appointed the builders etc i held them responsible but its falling on deaf ears I think. I am going to reject the offer through the loss adjuster as I have already told her I dont want to deal with the builders directly as its not my problem.0

LBG do have their own in-house LA's and also Crawford & Co do work for them also. Maybe other LA's but am not sure who else
Just because the LA is not helping you that doesn't need to be the end of it, look in your policy booklet and it will detail a complaints procedure and start the ball rolling.
The LA should be insisting that the builder puts the damages right. It's their appointed contractor and its up to them to sort it.0 -

Thank you for your help I will reject it and take it further. I just didn't want to seem unreasonable0 -
For a builder to have an insurance contract through Lloyd's it would be worth several million pounds per year so the would not likely want to jepordise this so I imagine if you push you should get the answers you are looking for.0

Hi, I do think that is fair. you are intitled to be in the position you were before. As they have given you a offer then they are admitting liability. If they dont want to up their offer, tell them to fix it so its like how it was which you are intitled to.
You have to let them know that its not your fault and they have to remidy it0
