I know, but what happens now? Do they have a legal department?
What do you mean by "legal department". They might have a tame lawyer that will send out threatening and meaningless letters but they can still be ignored. Frankly you are taking these people too seriuosly. They are not the police or the council. They are just a bunch of private citizens with no more powers than you or me to demand money off people. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

If they dared take this any further, they would run a mile if they had any sense, you were a customer, you stayed at the hotel, you can prove it, there is no loss, end of case, costs awarded to you because you would have sent your defence in, and they would know this beforehand.
Basically there is ZERO chance of this going to a small claims!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I know I genuinely stayed, but wondered if by not replying I'm admitting some kind of guilt!0 -
That's my biggest gripe about Travelodges. They have land for parking and the rooms are paid for so why do some charge and some not? I can understand contracting a PPC to deter unauthorised parking from outsiders and they'd still receive an income from the mugs who do pay, but why penalise their own customers?
1. I would suggest that much depends on location. The one near Brighton seafront for example doesn't even have a car-park & the one on the outskirts charges £5 for 24 hrs.(managed by Brittania I believe).
2. Is that really the case here? Just curious, but have you queried your situation with Travelodge themselves? If so, what was their response?
Other than that, I second all advice to IGNORE the PPC-however do retain the record/details of your booking.0 -

Thats the thing, the booking wasn't under my name - I stayed with mates, I was the driver there, that shouldn't affect it though? I put my numberplate in when I went into the travelodge, they wouldn't match bookings to DVLA names surely?0 -

You are still taking these clowns too seriously. You are not "guilty" of anything, you have not broken any laws. Just keep ignoring themWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

It makes no difference who's name is on the booking, I sometimes stay overnight at hotels, they are in my company name, the vehicle I drive is a leased car company car, also not in my name, I put the reg number to the hotel, that is all they need, if they can't even do that simple thing stay elsewhere next time and tell them why!
Just to reiterate the advice would still be the same - IGNORE!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

No it should not affect the situation whatsoever.
Neither should it matter whether/or not your name was included in the booking, but get your mate in whose name it was made to keep the record of same.
I take it that Travelodge may not even be aware of this matter & as such the PPC are just having a punt.
Matching 'bookings to DVLA names' is a non-starter. You could have arrived in a hire-car or a car belonging to another.
Once again, relax & IGNORE.0 -
