Hi, i have a listing on ebay to sell a MP3 player which can take memory cards up to 2gb - most MP3 players have a built in memory which cannot be expanded upon but this one is pretty cool cos not only does it use removable memory cards but it uses the ones that most Nokia phones use so means that you can swap ur MP3's around...
Anyway, i thought this was quite clear in the listings but have just had a question sent to me which says...
Q: Hi, you say in your reponse to the earlier question that, "This one has the advantage that it can be upgraded (if you want to buy a bigger card) up to 2GB." Does this mean that this item does not HAVE a 2GB memory/card already installed? Im a little confused...does this item HAVE a 2BG memory or not? Thanx, G
I thought this question was quite blunt considering that the answers to his question are in the listing but am wondering whether its not at all obvious and if the winner receieves the player and kicks up a fuss that there is no memory with the then am i gonna find myself in hot water???
The ebayer who sent the question only has 8 feedbacks and 2 are negative, both times he says the item was not as described... have just had a few alarm bells ringing in my head cos I thought my listing was clear and now his question is making me doubt it... Thankfully he hasnt bid on the auction and I have replied to him with the answers to his question...
Please can you tell me what you think and also what would happen if someone like him decided to bid and then pulled out after the auction has ended???
eeek!!
HELP PLEASE!

If it was me, i would of put on the listing :
PLEASE NOTE: THIS PLAYER DOES INCLUDE ANY INT/EXT MEMORY
or something along those lines. To someone who hasn't really got a clue about MP3 players, then i think your listing would be slightly confusing. In the spec part in tiny writing, i can see its got no memory with it, but its not exactly slapping me in the face! As you say, most MP3 players come with some internal memory."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
in my opinion i think this is VERY misleading and i would expect you to get a few more questions, and potentially an upset last minute bidder who is mislead by the auction title...the auction keeps on screaming 2GB 2GB 2GB and hence i think i can understand the question...maybe the word *potential* 2gb capacity maybe clearer?
i dont kow, not being offensive just my 2p's worth0 -
I agree, I think this is very misleading, I'm afraid. Sorry.
I noticed the '0' beside the memory, but going by the rest of the page , it's possible that people would think the '0' was a mistake tbh.Herman - MP for all!

Bargainbabe/NellyLock/AliasoJo thanks for your replies - its helpful to know!!
Its clear to me but guess thats cos its my listing... a 2GB memory card is £145+ so i couldnt imagine that people would have thought it included one, even a 1GB one is about £60 so I would have thought that if you were on the look out for an MP3 player you would know this sort of thing but I guess this isnt always the case... I'll add a note to my listing and hope it avoids confusion.... off to asda now and this auction will be finished by the time I get back (bad timing) so I hope evrything goes ok!! eek!
Thanks again 4 ur help

I would have no idea about memory card cost so wouldn't have known whether it should've been included or not, going by price. I would just have judged by the auction page.
All I can suggest is that you clarify with winning bidder before item is paid for/sent out. The worst that can happen is that they don't want it and you'll need to relist.
As long as your honest with them it shouldn't be cause for a neg I don't think.
Good luck, hope it's not too much hassle.

thanks aliasojo - guess its just a case of watching this space and seeing what happens ey! When I bought the MP3 players myself the description was everso less descriptive than mine, I've added to it to describe about the removable cards etc cos I thought this would clear up the confusion - I also put the statement in at the bottom "PLEASE NOTE: You will require an SD Memory card, which is not supplied. You can use the card from your Nokia Mobile phone or digital camera, or I can supply one with the MP3 player at additional cost, please email for prices."
which i thought would just double verify it - oh well, we will see what happens now!!Official DFW Nerd 210
