Thanks Macman yes I know that but we have a combi so no issue

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
  • I understand prices are different for different areas, but who is your gas supplier spinningsheep?

My gas has suddenly jumped up I'm on prepayment with British gas I have a combi boiler n it's just the heating and hot water that uses the gas.
For the past 3 or 4 weeks now it's been costing me about £5 a day!
I used to put on £20 which would last 7 days! I've not been using more gas if anything been using less!
I earlier checked how much it cost for the heating to run for 1 hour and it was over £1! Does this sound right?!
Have British gas suddenly put their prices up or what?!?
Thanks in advance for any advice :)

    a) gas prices have increased
    b) on the weather this morning they said that the temps are up to 20 degrees lower than this same period last year.

and to theblooray ........ spinningsheep's post on costs was 3 years ago and we all know what has happened to gas prices in that time !!

We are with BG on their Online Energy tarrif. I know I would save if I switch according to the comparison sites, but I am very happy with BG and their service, never had an issue with their bills etc and when I was with NPower we never had a single bill that was right!

  • BG customer service is excellent. My electricity supply comes from them. For Gas I use Ebico. Seems like £3 per day during the winter isnt too bad after all.

Since I have had my new combi fitted, a Baxi Duotec 28kw running 10 radiators and a towel rail, we are using approx £1.75 a day, and approx 51kwh per day, heating is on for 6 hours a day, plus hot water for washing and dishes etc.

I also have a Baxi combi boiler which is on for 6 hours a day and a gas fire. Just checked my usage and it's also 51KWH over the last year!

Since the national average is about 45kWh per day (16,500kWh pa), that's not exceptionally high.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
