I believe this is the case. Extract from the card association website below - http://www.theukcardsassociation.org.uk/files/ukca/section_75_v3.pdf
Section 75 - when your card payments are not protected (unless your card issuer voluntarily chooses to offer it as a matter of customer service):

...........if you buy individual items that do not cost over £100, for example if you buy a jacket for £80 and matching
trousers for £40. However, if you buy them as a suit for £120 this may constitute a single item and you are covered.
So unless it's considered a 'group holiday' or similar, the claim is probably not going to fly.

The criteria for a CCA Section 75 claim is that the individual item price should be more than £100 but less then £30,000, plus depends on who is assessing your claim but if it's a group booking then you may only be able to claim for your own portion of the booking, not the other people who were going. If you're going down the Section 75 route then you'll probably need legal advice anyway to establish what the breach of contract is. They'll advise whether they think you'll have a chance of a successful claim.

Can't think why your bank would say you're not covered though, they can action a Visa chargeback for non receipt of tickets no problem, doesn't matter that the seller has gone bust or that the payment hasn't been passed on. If the chargeback isn't successful, then you can look into Section 75 if you need to.
