Spanish Air Strike - Easyjet

Hi, I'm looking at flying to Malaga on 26th April and back on 4th May but there are threats of strikes coming. I want to know where I stand if flights get cancelled. I'm staying in an apartment so I'm not paying for accommodation so if I can get refunds on cancelled flights (I know it could take an age!) then I'm not out of pocket so will book.

The strikes aren't confirmed yet so if I book through EasyJet would I get a refund if they were cancelled because of the strike? The law says airlines are exempt if it is exceptional circumstances, terrorists, natural disaster and strike action.
This would seem to imply that I wouldn't get my money back if the strike goes ahead on the days I fly.
Can insurance cover this or are they too exempt?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You would get the cost of your flights refunded. The law that you are referring to relates to compensation, not a refund.

You may be able to get insurance to cover accom costs, but you would need to check whether they will cover this situation, as the prospect of strikes has been announced.
    Gone ... or have I?
