Have I been spun a yarn?

Is your employer not telling yoiu something and the clerk is just spinning their line?
Maybe they haven't got the money to pay you. It wouldn't be the first time an employer has been in this situation unfortunately. As has been suggested, take the matter up with them. I've used the BACS system today without any problems.0 -
I get paid weekly, I was paid today. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0

Nothing wrong at all with BACS or CHAPS or FPS. Sounds like a good yarn. Have them expand on what they mean by "automated banking clearing system"
If they are blaming their own troubles on a third party company which has no troubles would love to know!0 -
BACS and BACS Direct Credits ....... the latter used for most wages / salaries are very different.
It's likely to be a problem with the file submitted from the employer (at least 3 days ago) to BACS Direct Credit. They are the ones who issue the credits and debits synchronised to the employers / employees accounts on the stipulated day. But - in the event of a problem - BACS Direct Credit are pretty good at advising their client (the employer) ....... and they're pretty well practised considering 90% of UK employees are paid by them.BACSDirect wrote:Bacs Direct Credit is the preferred method of receiving payments with over 90% of the UK work force receiving wages or salaries this wayIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Is the tone in the first few answers to the op in this thread really called for?
Makes me wonder sometimes why people have to be so curt with their replies when someone is asking a simple question.
Simple question: "anyone know if the banking system is down?"
Answer: "How on earth are we supposed to know, did you not think of asking your bank?"
Uncalled for0 -
If I was the op I would make an assumption that my employer has difficulties and make a point of spending very little over the next few weeks and stockpiling some savings.0
