If you can read my previous post but in short my husband has had a letter off the csa about being the parent of a 12 year old child. That he has NEVER know existed! He did have a relationship with the mother of the child but it was very carefree in that they weren't boyfriend and girlfriend if you know what i mean. We have lived in the same town as the mother and child all this time and out of the blue got the letter off the csa.
My husband opted for DNA testing which he had done on the 22nd Feb and we got a letter a couple of days later saying they were waiting on the mother and child to be tested?? We haven't heard anything since so how much longer have we got to wait for the results??
Thanks in advance for any replys

It will depend on whether the mother turns up for the test. The lab can't do anything until the other samples are provided.0

Is there a set time scale for her to go ie within 10 days?0

It's worth having a chat with the CSA about this - they should have some kind of timescale in place for her having the test. After that, she will be deemed to have refused the test and therefore your partner will be 'let off' from a CSA perspective. When my ex denied paternity of one of our children, he was given 2 weeks to complete the paperwork - after this, they 'presumed' paternity on the basis of him having refused the test. Your situation has gone a bit farther - but there'll be a cut off at some point.0

Thanks! The wait is killing us! Apart from my husband wondering if he is the father to this child now that it is 12 years old, which he is very angry about. My husband doesn't want to be 'let off' just know if he is the father or not.0

If the mother of the child is delaying getting the test done, it could all be a pure bluff on her part, in particular if she has no real idea who the father is. Just looking for someone whose willing to cough up the money maybe? Good luck on this - and I hope that if the child does turn out to be the biological child of your husband that there can be a healthy relationship between the two built in the future. So wrong of the mother if she's known that he is the father to have withheld this information from him all this time, and the just spring it on him in this way!0

Sorry I have no useful advice but I just wanted to say gosh and acknowledge that this must be a difficult time for both your husband and you.
I hope things get resolved soon so that you know either way.0 -

I think they will give her up to 30 days to go and have the test - I'd probably ring up just to see if they have heard anything from her.0 -

I think you may find it is 30 days to book the test, and the test could then be over 4 weeks away, once the results are at the lab, it is a quick affair, and apparently the suspected father learns of the results 1st (other than the lab technicians of course).0 -
I have no idea but just wanted to say what a shock. I hope, if he us the father that your marriage is strong enough to weather this. Will your husband want to get to know the child if his?0
