Kays Catalogue PPI

Hi I'm new to the site so i apologize if this has been mentioned before, a few weeks ago my mother was housebound and asked me to pay her catalogue bill for her, I noticed on the bill there was a section called "Account Cover Plus, Protects Payments and Purchases". I asked her what it was and she didn't know, so i tried to contact Kays, first by telephone (no joy) then email twice (still no reply) It's been 6 weeks now and we're still non the wiser. I was wondering if this was PPI and if anybody has had this experience with Kays.

Regards

Tom

Hi there, yes, this is to protect payments should you be unable to make them. If your mum does not want this, write a letter to kays requesting this taken off and if your mum doesnt know how she got this, then complain, as she did not know what it was for,and ask for all insurance payments to be returned to her.Just write a letter to the complaints department and send it to the address on the back of the statement where you post payments to, send this recorded and see what happens.Look here for reasons for mis sell that may apply to your mum.

Thanks for the info amersall i will be doing this asap, I'm pretty sure she did not want this insurance as it comes to £63 per month, she's been with this catalogue for over 15 years. I'm just wondering how long she's been paying the insurance for, there are times when she was ill and borrowed to pay the bill so she obviously didnt know she had it.

The fact she did not claim on this when she was ill goes to show she did not know she had it, this is a cause to claim mis sell.Good luck with this and keep us posted.

Just an update on the progress of this claim, after filling out a quedtionnaire sent by kays they've obviously decided that my mum is not entitled to anything (which i expected). The final letter that they sent stated that.
"Due to the rules and restrictions FOS are required to follow and as your policy was sold before the 5th November 2004, it is our understanding that FOS may not be able to adjudicate on your complaint as we were not a member of a Dispute Resolution Service until this date"

I just want to know if it's worth me complaining to the FOS or have they got away with it

    Cheers

    Hi Tom

Definately worth contacting the FOS, even though they will not be able to adjudicate on this company, but they may suggest the actual insurer direction of the catalogue, who would have been regulated.
The FOS have been suggesting this direction to many of us in the same position.
Although it may take some time, but hopefully worthwhile in the end.

So give them a call in open office hours, explain your situation on your mum's behalf, see what they suggest, and if you can let us know, we can take it from there.

    Good luck.
