  • This is a really long shot, but when you reboot in safe mode and it asks for password, try just pressing return. I dont know why, but this has worked for me in the past. Hope you get it sorted.

    Someone in another forum said, the other day, that a default xp installation comes with an secret administrator account without a password. It's actually in the manual/booklet that comes with xp, so I gues it really is secret. :rotfl:

    Yep, boot up the laptop from a CD with Ophcrack. This'll crack Windows passwords in no time at all, I've used it often and it works fine.

    Thanks for this amcluesent. I'd forgotten my Admin password for an XP installation on a slave HDD. This found it in seconds. Saved me copying out a load of stuff and reinstalling Windows.

  • if you press control alt and deleted 2 times at the log in screen and type "Administrator" and leave the password blank it might let you log in not many people set a password for this account.
