The only thing I can suggest is once he gets his new card, to ensure he has a buffer in cash just incase the card gets lost again and put it in a safe place maybe at home as long as it's not too far or a spare shirt jacket etc. At least this way he will be able to eat..

Although, it seems a pain - I don't know what to say about the above really... Even though I dislike Santander but if I was with them, I would rather them be a bit cautious giving out money over the counter even with ID..

Again a real pain I know, even if you are the person who is the true holder of the ID - people can have the passports stolen, change the photo etc - I'm sure I would be the first to complain if my passport for example was stolen and then used to take money out of my account, like one extreme to another really..

Although inconvenient for sure, I guess they have systems in place to protect our money..

We have to give a balance between convenience and the potential issues this can bring!

Does your son use internet banking or telephone banking? If so he could transfer money to someone's account who would then withdraw it for him to tide him over till the new card comes through.

Does the man not have a wallet? Wallet... Jeans... zip / button... done.

I havent lost a card or wallet in 5+ years and believe you me, I've taken it on some wild benders in that time... I had a close shave last year when I left it in someone's car but I was lucky enough for her to be in the pub the following evening, as I was walking past on the phone to her to see if she had it, like a guardian angel just waiting to give it back... Nice coincidence!

Same goes for my mobile phone. Sure, they always look a bit tatty when my contracts come to renewal but they don't get lost.

Methinks the chap just needs to learn some responsibility and care :o

I think he has internet banking or phone banking and yes he could transfer the money to my account.
I just hope he gets his card soon, they seem to take their time.
