Carry on luggage Easy Jet

I have just flown easy jet Luton to Alicante and had to pay £30 for my hand luggage to be put in the hold on the journey out, despite fitting into the bag checker. Myself and my family have used this bag on numerous occassions travelling with both easy jet and ryan air and they have always passed the check before and also on the journey home. One of the boarding girls agreed that the bag fitted in ok, but the other said that as there was another bag similar to mine, that they had pulled out earlier, that mine would also have to go in the hold. My question is has anybody else had this problem and is there any recourse i can take?

Unfortunately I don't believe there is much you can now do after the event however it might be worth an email or contact them via twitter so everyone can see, they appear to be more responsive in front of an audience! Next time I would argue the toss with them, the size of the hand baggage is clearly laid out in the T&C's if it meets the requirements its hand luggage and therefore can be brought onboard and not placed in the hold for a charge.

Have emailed easy jet and they have said they cannot do anything about it, so i replied saying that i wanted to know who i could contact to take the matter further and the reply said that i was using a different email address, although it was the one i had used to post the original email and the one they had replied to.

I know hindisght is a great thing, but I would have argued the point with them. If the bag fits their guage, and it is within the published limits, then there is no reason they should have stopped you. Did you have to squeeze it, or push in any lumps and bumps to get it to fit, or did it slide in and out of the guage no problem?

Agree, I would also have take a photo of it in the guage. That way Easyjet could not argue that they had incorrectly charged you.

there was an article about this on watchdog a while back with the luggage guages being smaller in some airports. They do not fit their advertised allowable bags - so you need to measure the guage too to get evidence.

My grandchildren will want to take their trunki's when we fly with Easyjet to Portugal later in the year. I hope we don't have to pay for these to go in the hold !
