I am interested to know what you all feel about product placement on ITV. We already have ad breaks, do you think we should also have brands on TV?

A good percentage of progs are from USA and you always see products carefully placed. It was only a matter of time before it came here.

I don't have a problem with it personally. It's been around for years, so I don't feel there will be that big a difference to what we've already experienced.

It was funny actually - I went to a talk hosted by a massive multinational company. The guy speaking, though not directly linked to the company hosting the event (and actually drafted in by an external company), kept mentioning the hosting company and their products. It was so blatantly obvious, it was funny - made even more so by his apparent lack of knowledge of the company and the products they sell!

If its from women as beautiful as this woman, then i don't mind product placement at all.

i didnt vote because there isnt a " im not bothered can we now have a tv licence reduction " option. product placment on BBC should offset the cost of the tv licence.

I find that when I see a programme with a brand product in a scene where I'd expect to see it (eg a box of kellogg's cornflakes while somebody's making breakfast) then I don't really notice it...if it's a 'made up name' brand for the purposes of not showing a brand I find it jumps out at me much more

It doesn't really bother me, unless it's really intrusive.

I'd rather product placement than the really distracting blurred mugs and tshirts that appear on tv.
  • Why isn't there an "I don't care" option?

Really doesn't bother me in the slightest. (Unless it's a beer product placement  )
Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

    +1

From a writing/dramatic pov it gives them an extra option - it helps develop a character quickly by showing if they have tesco value or finest

There will be no product placement on the BBC. Only commercial channels.

I think this will be good for British TV, especially dramas, as it provides extra income for it, drama is lacking these days, so needs some extra income. As long as everyone sticks to the rules then it's a good thing. TV costs a lot to make, and hopefully it may give me a pay rise (I work in telly). I doubt it will give me a pay rise, but you never know!
