junction26, which CRA report was it ?

my creditexpert report only shows current accounts that have an overdraft facility - and it NEVER shows positive balances.

Accounts in Credit with exact balance!!!!!!

    No, they don't.

My HSBC bank account is currently ~£700 in credit. This is how it appears on my credit file:

I have of course deleted my personal details but Credit Reference Agencies do not keep a record of your exact bank balance.

They occasionally choose to report your overdraft balance - which is vital information for a lender to take into account when assessing your ability to repay a credit agreement you've just applied for.

Nothing big brother atall. Just age-old information sharing and credit data reporting.

Did you know that on your credit report, details of ALL your Bank Accounts are there for all to see, AND....... the balance in them???????
Since when have the Banks given out these details and the Credit rating companies published them?
Surely this is illegal, Data Protection and all that.......
Anyone know where you can bank Privately anymore?
    Offshore ????
    Under the mattress ?????

I think you are confused and just a little paranoid. Only debit balances are recorded, not credit balances, i.e., overdrafts and their histories. However, may lenders ask to see bank statements, before underwriting loans.

All my current accounts are shown on my report, whether they have an overdraft facility or not. The ones without overdraft facilities are as follows...

    Halifax (x 4)
    HSBC
    LTSB (x 3)
    Nationwide
    NatWest

Yeh the only bank account I've come across that doesn't appear on your credit file is the Halifax Easycash. All the other basic accounts I've had appear - Barclays Cash A/C, Co-Operative Cashminder, RBS Key, etc.

But they are current accounts that CAN go overdrawn, whether there is an overdraft facility or not. All that the credit report reflects is that you have the accounts and whether they are in debt or not.

I agree with nearly everyone else on this, my current accounts all show up on my credit report with a zero balance no matter how much in credit they are.

I was temping at a cable TV company once, one of the other workers who did the credit checks for new sign-ups would credit check the dishy male employees to see whether they would make a good catch.

Feel safe about your data now? I also know of a child who was doing work experience in a hospital records dept who looked up some of her friends and their parents records.

    Still feel so safe?
