Porting Number/e2save PLZ HELP??

Hey guys

finally decided i will be taking out a contract with e2save and am aware that i can keep my own payasyou go number from orange when i switch to o2.

however i was wondering how will this work, i get my pac number and enter it in when buying the phone, however when i get my phone will it automatically have my old number, if so what happens to my current number/phone on my sim card? Will it just stop working one day, and if so how will i transfer all my numbers? also when i get my phone how long will it take for ported number to have transfered?

question questions questions!!!lol

many thanks

  • When you get a new contract, you will be given a new number. This will only be a temporary number as you want to use your old number. I think both numbers should still work.

Ring up the network operator/customer services that you have joined, tell them you want to use your old number and you have the PAC. They will take these details off you. I'm not sure how long the transfer takes place, but your old number should be transferred onto the new network within days. I think figures that have been floating around are estimates of about 5-10 days/2 weeks?

ok well...iv just ordered a contract over the phone now and as the pac code wouldnt arrive until next week, iv just decided to change my number/was persuaded by the salesman, who for some reason didnt want to wait till next week! Also when i rang up they somehow persuaded me to order over phone, so just remembered i cant now go through quidco..arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I dont think i can, but once iv got my phone, will it be poss to transfer from my orange payasugo number to o2 contract???

For O2 contracts the PAC must usually be presented at point of purchase when buying from a dealer. See my post here.

  • I've just switched via e2save to an O2 phone. I gave the PAC number at point of purchase (on line) the new phone arrived 'dead' without a temporary number. The literature said it would spring to life in 5-10 days. However, after a week nothing had happened so I rang e2save and got put through to a special porting team who told me it hadn't been requested. She then manually entered it and the new phone started working 7 days later! Would like to say it was a happy ending but unfortunately my old phone was also still working on the same number - very odd!!

Here is what you can do, if a) you want Quidco cashback and b) your old number on your new contract.

When you receive your parcel, you can send it back to e2save as you have a week to decide whether you want this contract deal (thanks to the Distance Selling Regulations). :T When you get your PAC go through e2save via Quidco. After you have requested and got your PAC from your current provider, you should now be able to enter your PAC for your existing/old number to be used in the new contract.

I should warn you that if you go through the process of getting another deal (i.e. my method because you want to use your pac and/or get your Quidco cashback) then your credit rating will sustain another hit, as network operators do credit searches on potential customers before they allow the customer to join.

As ferdiejones has already said that even when he used his PAC during the sign up, his mobile wasn't active. Therefore you could try what he said, (don't use your phone until you get your PAC) ring up e2save, tell them that your mobile is not active ;) and give them your PAC and hopefully you should get your number ported across. :)
