Vodaphone Roaming Charges - we won !!!

My boyfriend went to Thailand - both of us are on Vodaphone network. On his first day there we had a 45 minute conversation (him ringing me) - the next day panic set in on the cost so I called to check if international roaming applied to Thailand - spoke to a lovely lady who confirmed that it did and reassured me that it would be 75p connection and then the rest came out of his free minutes. So off we went (for 3 weeks) we battered the phone and rang each other without a care in the world expecting a phone bill of a couple of hundred pounds.

On the day he was due home I tried to call but couldn't get through so rang vodaphone and after 3 hours battling (as they wouldn't dicuss his bill with me - even though I had the passwords etc) they informed me he had been cut off as his bill had exceeded his £850 credit limit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How mad was I ???? Yep thats right they then said that international roaming doesn't apply to Thailand !!!!! Bit late for that snippet of information me thought !

To cut a very long story short I carried on fighting with them insisting they listened to the conversations (phone calls will be recorded for training ...........) and repremand the woman who had given me the wrong advice, in addition we were not prepared to pay the bill.

In the end they billed us at the rate I had been quoted and we paid £200 (including the £70 he would normally pay anyway for an average monthly bill).

It nearly caused a pair of nervous breakdown but we won in the end !!!!!
