I encountered something similar to this with a colleague at work..........

The person in question had been fairly quiet during this discussion but finall chipped in during a pause - facial expression very serious/anguished looking, she added her suggestion, "surely you've got to take people's outgoings into account?"

As an aside this person is good at her job [admirable in many ways] and has a lot of good personal qualities, but this is seemingly a bizarre blind spot for her - just can't see why it's wrong.

Sad, but likely not an untypical emotion of people used to having it all, from the 'because you're worth it' generation. And all part of why life in the UK has gone horribly wrong in many ways. Money's become our god.

Can only agree. I still believe the fateful day will come. We cannot carry on like this. HPI and daft lending, I feel is at the root cause and at sometime will have to be addressed. I am very likely to loose my self employed contract in weeks. I need to bridge the gap for just a tiny bit under 3 years before all the pensions kick in. Also quite ill so it is likely I will get some support with a bit of dosh for the remaining 3 years.

Thankfully my wife is healthy and says will carry on working. Not that it makes me feel good. Also the first of her various pensions kick out next month.

My lad has mortgage of just under a grand a month. Decent salary, in sales but works for a nut case who is always threatening his job. Would be difficult for him to replace that salary if they kick him out.

His partner works 2 and a half days a week but spends over £300 on child care.

He is not sleelping and has been shouting at his 2 year old. Phoning me most days and is very stressed.

Another moan. As a baby boomer , as a group we often get attacked. Both my lovely wife and I have been paying into pensions since our 20`s. Annuities are on the floor. What I hoped was somewhere near £15k a year has now totally diminished.

Thankfully full state and serps and other stuff. Cool Britannia, has ended up as Cruel Brittania. The desperate story of years of inept governments ( line your own pockets ) for years.

    Hey Pobby,

    Can't you read ?

You're not supposed to talk about family or friends on this forum. Behave yourself.

I want a better future for my kids Ghoul, not some vindictive "well i had to struggle so i want you to as well".

You seem like a decent person, you think beyond you own personal gain, unlike many of the people who argue against you.

Ghoul_Whatever does seem to be a vindictive person. It seems the greedy members of this forum are only too happy to mock the less greedy. It really makes them seem like they need to validate their "wealth" by attacking those that are less greedy or suggest that they may lose some of their unearned gains.

It says a lot about you, that you judge a man on him visiting a pub with lots of TV screens.

The thing that says the most is that it is only possible to have one username per email address. This person must be spending hours each week signing up to an email service, creating a user ID, and posting a few mildly abusive and pointless comments on here before getting banned again.

I didn't know where to look.

More common than you might think. I had a member of staff (well educated and smart guy) ask for a payrise because he was finding it hard to pay off his car loan.

Agree 100%. The Ghoul dude is a rude dude. Nasty piece of work. Obviously keeps getting banned and then re-emerging (presumably has a dynamic IP address!!).

On the plus side at least it's clear that he's a troll. He bearly gets chance to build up any reputation before he's laughed off the forum.

On the flipside, Foxy's passionate and has morals. Yay Foxy! :)

Some people care about the care their mother is getting

Its up to the sister how she handles her finances. She's an adult.

Its also up to the sister how much help she is prepared to pitch in for her mother. Its not for one sister to tell the other sister what to do, each must examine their own conscious.
