Honestly ? Go the Embassy/Consulate/Visa place and get it sorted out once and for all. The good news is that (IIRC) the visa will be valid for 10 years.
Or, go to another country.
That is what I would do :beer:0 -
Having read all this thread, and all the arguments about it is moral turpitude, or it isnt. The main thing to be thinking is. You are spending a couple of grand on a holiday, Which could be lost if you dont go to the US embassy for interview. So why not spend another couple of £100, and go to the embassy for a couple of hours.
That way your mind will be put at rest, and you wont have to worry about the holiday being ruined, if 'Homeland Security' refuse you entry.0 -

I did try saying this several times on page 1 as have several others since but it all seems to have fallen on deaf ears!0 -

You remember incorrectly. A visa can last for a single trip or up to 10 years.0 -

No, I remember them telling me that had he disclosed it he would have been allowed in.It was the non-disclosure that made them refuse entry. He was very shocked that they knew about it.
I will see if I can find out from them exactly what it was that he did.0 -

thanks for that.
I was under the impression that Embassy issued visa were generally issued for 10 years as the norm, but for less than that for extenuating circumstances.0 -

I've got a sneaky feeling that the OP has already bought the flight tickets/holiday and has now gone "oh sh*t, what about our convictions ?" & is now trying to convince themselves that everything will be OK
OP am I right ?0 -
Another point to consider - AFAIK no holiday insurance will payout for being unable to travel/being refused entry into the US due to failure to obtain the correct visa etc0

My husband had a spent conviction (over 10 years old), for criminal damage.
As we where getting married abroad i wasnt prepared to "chance it" - Spent convictions dont apply on the ESTA - we where dont if you have ever been arrested it has to be refered for a VISA - this was from the embassy line. - which is about £2 a min
We went to Belfast for his visa, took about 3 hours, and he was given a ten year visa (came in the post about 3 days later)
I know plenty of people with criminal convictions that go year after year on the esta and dont disclose - personaly i wouldnt risk it, be a bit of a p1sser if they do do a check on whatever system they can access and you get sent straight home on the next plane.
You don't met the criteria for the esta, either risk it or sort your visa out.0
