Ideas for holiday to Croatia

Last year we spent 10 days in Croatia and split our time between Dubrovnik and Cavtat.
You probably know all about Dubrovnik - it is absolutely stunning, lots of things to see and do, lovely restaurants. We stayed at the Hotel Argentina which has a pool directly next to the sea - so we swam in the sea most of the time.
After 5 days we walked down to the harbour with our suitcases and boarded a boat to Cavtat - much nicer than getting a bus or taxi. It's only about 30 mins on the boat and doesn't cost much (certainly much less than a taxi). Cavtat is a cove with restaurants lining the sea front. There are also fantastic boats moored outside the restaurants - think Puerto Banus or Monaco and you'll get the picture. It was nice to chill out for 5 days doing nothing other than lay by the pool and go to restaurants. We stayed at Hotel Croatia which is a very nice hotel. The room just looked out on the Adriatic.
Cavtat is very near Dubrovnik airport so a taxi is only around 10 Euros. To get to Dubrovnik from the airport we took the airport shuttle - I think that was about 7 Euros each. It leaves directly outside the arrivals building and drops off at the main city gates in Dubrovnik, from where you can get a taxi to your final destination.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies.
Well I've been googling and googling and now think we might have to go in April instead. The problem I have is that I need to co-ordinate my son's hols from uni in Aberystwyth and my daughter's holidays (she's due to sit GCSEs next year!)
So by the time I get him home from Wales, get his washing done and ready to pack again, I need to get the dates right, as you can imagine.
I found some brilliant flights going from Manchester to Dubrovnik, but can't seem to find many for Split? I've found some nice villas in both places that I'd like to go to, so it will all depend on flights which one I choose.
Thanks again!

Croatia is beautiful - loved it when I was there.. During the Summer though if people are wanting to head up towards Zadar and round there then there are A LOT of music festivals that happen - sepecially around petrecane - so accomodation wil be very limited..
but its so nice just do it anyway

Hi folks
Just returned from our week in Croatia - and I've complete fallen in love with Dubrovnik Old Town and a small place called Cavtat.
We stayed in a gorgoeus villa, set back in the mountainside with beautiful panaromic views of the sea and the coastline. Flights were brilliant, flew with Monarch and although weather was a bit varied, we absolutely loved it and can't wait to return.
Highly recommended!

I loved Croatia, too - but if you like sea swimming (and I do!) the one piece of advice I'd give is take wet-suit boots or anything you're comfortable swimming in to protect your feet, as there were lots of sea-urchins in the rocks, which made getting into/out of the water a more worrying experience than it needs to be if you have bare feet. Great for snorkelling, if a bit chillier than you might expect!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

Sal, Can you give more details of the villa that you stayed at? I've been looking for one in September and can only see silly prices for Croatia villas so have been looking at North Cyprus instead.Hi folks

I've been to Dubrovnik four times, love it there; so beautiful.
However its getting very popular now; the first time I went, there were hardly any tourists but even so its still such a nice place.
Luckily one of my good friends is Croatian and has an appartment there
.....flights only!
What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0
