anyone been to Croatia for a villa holiday towards end of Oct (half term hols) or is it getting a bit cold then?
If so, any other suggestions? We would like somewhere likely to be still warmish, with a few interesting things to do and look at, including walks
    Many thanks

Moneylover, I know quite a few people who go to Turkey for the October half term hols, still fairly warm and lots to do there.

Incidentally, we've still not booked our holiday yet :-) But we're definitely going for Croatia! I'm waiting until I start my new job at the beginning of May before we book any dates. I have no idea what it's like in October though....

Lynda - Croatia has some of the best reviews I've read and I've read zillions!

I used to know a wealthy elderly man who had travelled all over the world with his late wife - they had no family and all their money went on travelling. I asked him once where his very fave place was and he said without hesitating "Yugoslavia" (as it was then).

    Hope you get organised too.:)

We're booked in now, flying out on 4th July for a week :) I admit I'm not looking forward to the 6am flight, but it was so much cheaper!

It was fantastic thanks, we had an amazing time! I'd definitely recommend going. It was just getting a bit uncomfortably hot by the end of our week though - hitting 35C during the day - so the air con in our apartment was very useful!

We went on a coach trip to Krka, I'd recommend that, and if you talk to the tour people in the main street you may well get a discount on a short notice trip - worked for us :money:

Also went over to Supetar on the ferry, that was lovely, would have liked more time to see some of the other islands too! I think if / when we go back, we'll do a bit of island hopping.

REst of the time we just walked around, seeing the sights, went up to the zoo on the hill and to lots of museums. You can get a Split card from the tourist info for free, which gave free entry to loads of places, and discounts on others.

Oh, and the ice cream was brilliant, and so cheap, though I never dared try the bright blue Smurf flavour :rotfl:

Hi, we flew from Luton to Split, apart from the early morning the flights were fine. There's an airport bus that meets flights and goes directly into Split centre. We stayed in the Yellow apartment http://www.adria-split.com/eng/apartments-split.aspx which was really well located for the town centre, everywhere was in walking distance.
