Hi All
My sons Xbox 360 slim has developed a fault. It wont play any discs or acknowledge there is a disc present. He purchased it from Argos in July 2010. The machine is still under warranty, and has been sent away by Argos for repair.
My question is what happens to the remaining warranty? He will have to wait 3 weeks for this repair to be carried out, and if its repaired, then surely as the warranty seal will be broken, this would need to have a fresh 12 months from the acredited repairers?
I am sure its not Microsoft who does their repairs, so If microsoft saw the warranty seal as not original then it would be null and void?
The manager in Argos said there will be " a small extension but not 12 months" quite snottily!
Would it not be best practice to just replace the unit?

no,you get a warranty period
that doesn't change if you get a repair0 -
so they dont guarantee their repairs then?0

I can see why the manager couldnt be bothered with you0

The warranty is additional to your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act (SOGA). These rights provide the assurance you are seeking. If you continue to have problems after the repair (potentially up to 6 years from the date of original purchase) you should seek redress from Argos under SOGA.604!0

Thanks! At last someone with knowledge to help, much appreciated.0 -
Microsoft do the repairs; don't worry about it. I had the same concerns for mine but it came back fine with a new seal. Chances are it was just replaced but it's nice to know that argos aren't as useless as you would thinkSometimes life throws you a curve ball...and it hits you in the face!0
