also why dont they intoduce 5,10,15,20 and 30 pound buttons on the pumps the pumps go that fast now a lot of people who want to put jut £20 end up putting £20.01 in instead imagine how many people do that in one day comments please

They have that at my local Tesco Esso garage. Pumps were recently updated with that feature but for some reason still do not allow pay at pump. I try an avoid anywhere that dosen't allow me to pay at the pump., I don't want to sit in a queue at the pumps whilst people go in and get their weekly shopping before paying.

How much is each drip worth? 0.1p?
    52p at todays rate

I can't imagine them changing the pumps to have buttons of £5, £10 etc as there are always delays as people learn a new system and it will cost them a lot of money, it's a good idea but "if it ain't broke don't fix it", current system works fine.

Lol, that does annoy me too, nozzle trigger fully squeezed until around £9.50 slow flow up to £9.98, get it to a £10 just about to release the trigger and £10.01, Noooooooooooooooooo

Reminds me of a "Not the Nine O'Clock news" sketch.

Motorist carefully watches the digital display on the pump as he fills up his tank carefully stopping at £10.00 (!!!!).
He is being watched by the cashier while he does it.
Just as he's about to put the nozzle back, the cashier presses a button on the till which adds ½p to the total.
Cut to motorist with resigned expression on his face!

Good point, and once you have used up your £10's worth, the next lot will cost you even more.

    No it won't - still a tenner :D:D

you're better off giving the nozzle and pipe a good ole shake before replacing it... making sure there's no dip in the pipe for fuel to collect. How much is each drip worth? 0.1p?
    Ah the old dip-in-the-pipe trick.

Pull into forecourt and open fuel cap. Remove hose from pump and insert, then lift hose so the fuel in the dip flows into tank. Do NOT touch trigger. Replace nozzle in pump, replace cap, and drive away.

    At next petrol station, repeat.

My dad once did that on his moped when he was 16, at a closed petrol station. He had run out of petrol, so pedalled it to this petrol station and did that on every pump. Gave him enough to get home!

They are able to do that at a garage near me.You dont get any petrol in until you prepay in the garage.(they were having a lot of problems with people driving off without paying)You go in and pay for how much you want £20,£30 etc and it cuts off exactly on that figure.Dunno how it works but this garage isnt exactly ultra modern so I suspect any could do the same.

Only problem with that is, if you want to fill your tank, you cannot, nobody knows exactly how much fuel it will need.;)
