MBNA - are they always such pains

I spoke to a lady yesterday from MBNA who was lovely, i explained my situation to her an said that i could pay £50 on 27th Nov and £50 on 20th Dec, she said that was fine and made a note of it on my account.
I have had 3 calls today from people (english people for the 1st time ever) asking for a payment of £16.50 to cover the arrears and each time i have said i am unable to pay anything until Monday. I am so embarrassed my boss and my colleagues have heard this 3 times today so they obviously know whats goin on, i just want to burst into tears.
Does anyone know if this will continue to happen everyday until Monday if so i'm phoning in sick, i can't cope with it everyday, especially as one of my colleagues is moaning he is skint coz he only has 3k in his account instead of the 5 he normally has :-(

Dont worry about what others think they might be in the same boat you dont know,
I had the harassment at work from HSBC and in the end i told them that i would lose my jobif they kept ringng me at work and then they would get nothing.
I never got a fone call from them at work again.
Good Luck

ask them to phone you at home say you cant take calls at work your there to work , dont phone in sick they are just trying to get you to pay put the phone down also pop a letter in the post with your home contact details then there is not a need to call you at work dont worry0

Hi
Have a go at my suggestion in this thread.

Not an instant fix but may save you from being harrased in the future.0 -
dont give security details just hang up they will not sit and ring you all day if you keep putting phone down , they will most 3 times a day and once more to iritate .0

Do they ring you on a mobile or landline? If mobile, keep your phone on silent/vibrate, ignore the calls from them & just answer the calls that you want. If landline, tell them in no uncertain terms that this line is for customers only & they're putting your job in jeopardy in which case they'll end up getting nothing. Eventually, they'll realise they're getting nowhere & hopefully they'll agree to either phone you only at home or keep all communication in writing only. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the writing only mind you!Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

What they are doing to you is plain and simply HARRASSMENT and is against the guidelines laid down by the Office of Fair Trading.
Have a look at the OFT website for a full version of the guidelines for debt collection, or for an overview, with your rights -

They should NOT be calling you at work - this is clearly intended to cause you embarassment. In fact they should NOT be calling you at all, since you have already made an agreement to pay.
You can ask them to STOP telephoning, both at home and work, and conduct ALL correspondence in writing only.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

this is true but in the real world when it comes to phone calls they stay just with in the law and to be fair it does work as some debtors borrow more to get them off there back or some miss rent mortgage payments the debtor must just sit tight dig there heals in and they will come around to the debtors way of thinking , and the phone calls will stop as apayment programme is put in place0

MBNA? Within the law? You have got to be joking!
I reported them to the OFT who simply passed it on to the TSO, whom I had already informed!
MBNA should be shot.
They are vicious, vindictive, abusive, threatening, rude, harrassing and any other name you can find to call them. I was getting 24 calls PER DAY from MBNA, including Sundays. I had only missed one payment!
They are not operating within the law and it is time that the powers that be dealt with MBNA and others who are up to this nonsense.0
