cash for clothes companies

I've got some clothes that really aren't worth selling, past their best and a couple of bits that have had an argument with a bleach bottle so only really good for textile recycleing.
Been having a browse online for places that would accept bags for recyclying and the only one I can really find is this
http://www.cashforclothing.org.uk/
Not sure if this is part of the Cash4Clothes network etc as so many places have similar names, but has anybody used this company via this link?
I'm not expecting a fortune from the items, but its better than them going to landfill and a few quid is better than nothing.
If anyone can recommend anyone else in the Berks / Bucks area that would be fab too.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Are there any places that collect in SW London? I've got tons of stuff to get rid off and about 6 boxes of books0

Hi,
I just went to that link and checked their terms of use. It seems ok at first, but the spelling and the grammar indicates that it may be operated from abroad and that makes me a bit wary.
I keep remembering the poster on here who told us that all was not paid or seen again. I am not keen about this one in that link as the prices paid are peanuts.
I would rather give my bits, and they are just bits, to the charity shop and let them build up their bags to go to recycling.0 -

Thanks for your opinion, decided that you're probably right and after not being able to find anywhere locally that would purchase rags for thread reclamation / not really wanting stuff hanging around the house, I've just dropped off prob 2/3 of a black sack to the local clothing bank who reclaim thread for textile production.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Yes, clothing banks, in your local area are sanctioned/organised/headed, whatever, by the local council and so I use them sometimes. Just forgot to mention them, so thanks for the reminder.
We will have to find some other way to up our income. I have a mind to save my good enough stuff and have a good old car boot sale in the summer. I haven't done that in years, so maybe I could do that next.0 -

There is a Cash for Clothes place on W.Molesey/Walton on Thames border if that helps?
At the end of last year - if I remember correctly - they were offering 50p p kg for DRY, CLEAN, clothing, belts or shoes tied in pairs - if you went to their depot. 40p p kilo for collection. I do not know how far they will collect from, but we had a lot and they came about 6 miles. My daughter and I had SO much stuff we made £76. A delightful Eastern European chap turned up and was so polite and lovely. He actually gave me the 50p p kilo even tho he collected as the stuff was good quality. They do check that it is clean, and also that it is dry. They also take bed linen at a lower p kilo rate - but I am afraid I do not know what that is.
Just tried to look up their website, but my computer or their website is not cooperating.
BTW - They also usually show up at the Apps Farm Car Boot in the summer- which is very handy, although the queues at the end of the morning are quite long.

Yep, I have a pile of bags in the loft for the car boot...must remember to pack up my industrial vat of patience for all those who want things at 5p or 10p when you ask for 50p / £1 :mad:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Just smile sweetly and say nothing. I have always found that someone else will pay my asking price. Only at car boot sales will the British haggle. So stick to your guns, as it were, and the next lot will pay up. It is assuming that the items are priced fairly, so hang on in there. Good luck.0

A good tip for car boots is to price items a little higher than you actually want for them (like 70p instead of 50p) then when people want to haggle you can offer them the actual price you wanted and they will feel like they got a deal (or if someone seems uncertain about buying something you can offer the lower price). Just don't go too high or people won't want to buy your stuff!
There is a Cash4Clothes shop near me which I'm planning to use when I have finished my clearout. I wouldn't use an internet service for something like this, since that's too easy to exploit, but if you have a shop or collection service nearby it's a good idea!0 -
Took some clothes down to cash for clothe and got about £ 15. They pay per kilo so you do need quite a lot of clothes to make it pay.0
