Hi folks
Back a little early. Didn't need lunch the last few days but have been doing this since the start of the year - and will take "tea" when I go into work later.
Thinking more about the folder - I do have this electronically - with spreadsheets for different things, including overall budget, repayments, additional income etc. Worked a little on this yesterday.
So today I am on banishing brands! No shopping to do today so can't get started immediately with this but have made a note to swap to value brands as much as possible in the weekend shop.0 -
Oops, forgot to update
So I enjoyed day 10, lots of chilling out, I think I needed it.
Packed lunch is easy, been doing that for a whileAnd am remembering to eat lunch when I'm home to stop me pigging rubbish all evening!
Found a notepad, it's purple and Winnie the Pooh, was a birthday present about four years ago
Today's task, well that requires some gentle persuading with mother, can only be partially done though as we have to be really careful with my diet. Will give it a go thoughNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Yep, up to date so far and keeping tabs on things well. Have got a bit overexcited about it being payday tomorrow and updated my spreadsheet today but am having an NSD today so it wont hurt.
Sad isn't it these little things you look forward to? Think I could do with looking back at the fly lady days so far though and checking that am still doing all the things, can't hurt.
By the way, well done Tondella on your debt busting so far and getting it under £20k, that must have been a big boost for you.

Day 12 - Dear diary
I've found a notebook to use, I had a pile ready for E-bay so I've taken the plainest one back and will photograph the rest ready for E-bay, poste haste. :T"Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

Yes, it's been a great feeling, and we've got loads to look forward to this year, the snowball repayments mean that the debt is getting smaller and smaller each month as the interest goes down and down. I should be able to cancel my virgin card in april, my barclays card in June and my Lloyds card in December. That leaves us with two credit cards of debt for 2008 - things really feel like they are moving.
Still, no rest for the wicked, my spending diary for this week is telling me that i am still frittering money away on little trips to the shop. I've realised this week that one packed sandwich is not enough at lunch, and is driving me out to the shops to buy crisps or a yoghurt. So on this week's shopping list I've added some muller rice for packed lunches (actually, make that a supermarket own brand alternative to muller rice!)Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94
Current debt: £14,000.00
Debt free date: June 20080 -
Okay spending diary done - did one on a spreadsheet as its easier to manipulate into more colums if I decide I want more later on. Absolutely disgusted at how much I spend on food between shopping, eating out, etc so that will have to be a radical change.
Also spent a lot at boots this week but to be fair I have now stockpiled my toiletries and my make up so wont need to spend on that for a few months and they were all 3 for 2 plus/or had some money off as well so in actual fact I saved a fortune - If anyone sees me spending in boots (other than nappies to get the points - feel free to give me a boot lol).
Right onwards:
Day 8 - open the bills well thats ok as I do that
Day 9 - Shop but dont drop - good timing for this one as I am doing the shop tomorrow and my spending diary has shown there is a huge hole that needs to be plugged on this one. Okay start shopping list and stick to it!! Have cleaned out Freezer and will do cupboards tonight and see what meals i can make from what I have already before compulsively buying more.0 -
Day 14 for me - I like this one - have a DF treat! I guess that's one that doesn't cost anything - can I count my latte this morning? It wasn't free but it was only £1.65 and was the first I have bought at work for a couple of weeks! I was meeting some nice folk for coffee so it was a good value treat even if not free.0

Unlucky for some
Day 13 – Banish your brands
I did my grocery shopping for next week and my treats for this weekend (for my friend's visit) this evening. I managed to buy Sainsbury's own brand beans, this was a real struggle as I'm a Heinz stickler, if they taste ok, I may be convinced. Heinz 47p, Sainsbury's 27p!
I bought the Sainsbury's basic chocolate bars for my packed lunch. 36p instead of my usual 60p.
I think that's about it for my efforts on this one. I will try to do this with more products every time I shop."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

Hi All
Just a quickie as I pop out from lurkdom.....I already do buy own brands rather than labels, these are just a few of my recommendations (!)
Morrisons
- own label baked beans (4-pack, £1.08) best-tasting ones by far
- red lentils
- 27.5 kg sack spuds (£3.75) - unwashed but good value
- bettabuy (their value range) passata - 34p
Lidl
Their own brand butter - Milbona (!) - slightly salted, like Lurpak but soooo much cheaper at 53p for 250g. I prefer butter & use this all the time for sandwiches & cooking..They also have v cheap mozarella cheese, their strong white bread flour is great value if you bake your own bread, 67p I think.
I'll post any others I think of tomorrow,
Happy shopping!
