    Not Buying it 2015!
  • Hi, this is fantastic, i am new since new year and all the advice was great. I have done my soa and am aware of my debts  but it was sort of 'well what now?' i can't pay off debts yet or start until pay day, i am reducing my food bill (my biggest and worst spend) and then didn't really know what to do next as the task seemed to huge.

this is exactly what i needed - thank you :j

went to sainsburys today but only bought bread 79p hot cross buns 69p (keeps chldren happy going around and good alternative to sweets) £1.16 on red grapes and 93p on green grapes!!

i also put 50p in postman pat ride (not for me :D ) as hadn't the last 2 visits so was owing

so thanks again - this is giving me small tasks rather than the huge i thought i had

Oh yes, please can I join?!

Small steps sound ideal and I love having suggestions from other people - always things I hadn't thought of or was studiously ignoring :o

I've had a read of the first week and am sorted on the spending diary bit, no problem there, I have a lovely colourful spreadsheet with tons of calculations and categories and funny things that I like playing around with  :o

The confessing bit, I'm not so good at that... always think my spending is not really necessary or justifiable... I feel really inferior to those who are taking a very hard line in reducing their debts. I'm not as strict on myself, I'm taking things gradually and at a level that I can manage as my debts are not overwhelming (or costing me anything :D) at the moment. But that makes me feel like a fraud compared to so many dfws.

Next - the negative thoughts bit. I need to work on this more than anything else, with regards to money and other stuff, so thank you for writing that one tondella :)

Mobiles and credit cards aren't really weakness areas so I think I'm ready to go... I know I know I shouldn't hurry or feel behind... but I want to be 'keeping up' with the challenge and having some challenges before my enthusiasm wanes ;) I'll be working on those two things though, the confessing and the emotional side of spending (and other stuff).

  • Would love to join this. I am joining in with the flylady on OS boad and the difference to my life is amazing. Hopefully this thread will keep us all on track also.I strted my spending diary in December but was a wee bit half hearted about it until January. You really get a shock when you realise what rubbish your money actually gets spent on. For instance I went into the garage today and spent £32 on petrol( essential) and nearly a tenner on juice, biccies, crisps and pasta for lunch ( marks and sparks bit) The funny thing is I'm meant to be on a diet!!!!!!!!! So today between 2 kids and myself lunch and snacks cost me nearly £15. No wonder I am always skint. I will start the thoughts thing going also. I am single mum to my kids. Separated as ex had someone else. Very typical story of dad letting kids down, not taking responsibility etc etc and I spend loads of money , tme etc trying to make up for his lack of parenting. I shouldn't I know but hey I cant see them disappointed without trying to make them feel better. This is a major thing for me and I really really need to stop it. Need to also add making packed lunches to my nightly daily duties for flylady as this will save me a fortune. Daft thing is we al prefer home made lunches. Am I a daftie or what?? Ok here goes then the new me from now on . Take care all xx

  • Hi all just caught this & seems a great idea so will join if thats ok? Looking at the challenges I'd actually done them already as just got rid of mobie contract & now on PAYG and spending diary was back Jan 1!. Parking & lunches my worst. I wonder whether it would be worth also including something about health as a challenge? I have just spent the last week working late (didnt leave before 6.30 7 worst day was 7.45...) and subsiq eating crap (crips) and virtually no veg...sure others mut also fnd thsi hard as we all struggle with time cos of all the DFW things we're doin...anyway, regardless fab challenge & look forward to getting stuck in!
