    Yes, that's a great point about stainless steel! I might be a little biased here but a roofer client of mine actually has a very good solution that's helped lots of churches, schools, and so on with this problem, using a liquid polymer alternative to lead and copper - it's theft-proof/anti-theft (because it bonds to the roof and is valueless as scrap to thieves), doesn't require insurance, and creates a very realistic, traditional lead-look or patinated copper-look, depending on what's needed.
    For anyone interested, you can Google 'RM Polymers' - he works absolutely anywhere in the UK. I know the forum's not for selling, but I really thought people ought to know about this and hope it can help others in this terrible situation!
