Answering the original post, I think London prices have gone mad in the last year and I can't find the reason at all. We bought back in London earlier this year and whilst the plan was to keep, the rising prices scared me enough to want to sell and be out of it.
Locally to me, asking prices have been the same since the 2004 interest rate rise though this year has seen houses selling quickly and maybe a rise of 2-3%, no more. Looks more like a soft landing hereEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Stop moaning about house prices again. Your boring everybody. Why don't you go out and do something about it? Work harder, dazzle the boss and be a go getter. It's always been hard. Each generation has it's difficulties to face. Just buy whatever you can afford no matter how much you have to borrow. The value always goes up. The important thing is to get on the ladder ASAP. Why just waste money on rent when you can part own a luxury city apartment in Stratford AND rent it at the same time? Or team up with a complete stranger over the internet and place your financial future in their hands. It's amazing what opportunities young people have today to become homeowners and still they moan, moan, moan all day instaed of getting on in the world. It's the want it now culture I blame. Holidays every month, expensive cars, clothes and phones. Binge drinking and partying. No wonder they can't afford to buy a proper house. You've made your bed now lie in it.0

I really dont think Meanmachine wants to buy a flat anywhere, have you read thier posts. Meanmachine has been a voice asking for us to contemplate the reasons for this madness in houseprices. And what this will do to society at large if what looks like its going to happen, happens.
Personally, when those dark days come I will be sitting here chatting with you lot and probably offering some advice to some people in DFW who decided to get a 125% IO mortgage on a flat in stratford that wont be built till 2009 coist in excess of 300 grand on a salary thats collapsed.
I cant believe no one is really concerned by this and thinks its "boring". Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

If you read some of my previous posts you'll know whether I was being ironic or not and just so you know, I'm a bloke.
As you said Lynzpower- some people actually DO hold these sentiments and I wanted to mimic them to highlight how ridiculous they sound. It was also 6:31 in the morning and it had been a verrrrrrry long night....0 -

Jyonda, that was really good. Just on the border between believable and unbelievable opinion. I tip my hat to you.0
