Hello, I have a question, I'm wondering if anyone can answer
I send lots of postcards and letters abroad so I buy my stamps in advance. However, when I ask for stamps to Europe and worldwide they kept giving me the value ones "60p" and "67p"
Anyway, I post 3 letters yesterday not realising that the prices had gone up: I only realised when I asked my partner to double check the price to Canada later in the day and he said it was "76p"
Now I'm worried my other letters won't reach there destinations? (Japan, USA and Germany) or is there a slight overlap time where you can still use the old stamps? I literally posted them ON the day of the change.0 -
Depends how you posted them. Royal Mail no longer empty post boxes on Sundays so if your items were in a post box before the first Monday collection you will be fine0

I posted them at about 2pm on a Monday :S (didn't realise there was a price change until 9pm that night, I must live in a cave!) The last pickup is at 4.45pm but don't know it there is a pick up before that?0

They will probably get delivered ....
BUT .. there will probably be an EXTRA CHARGE  to pay by the recipients.
In the UK the RM charge £1 plus whatever the under-payment is

Hello Lauren, we had a cheque from one of our customers a few weeks ago with no stamp on. It still arrived and no charge. We have also had letters stating extra to be paid but have never been asked for anything. I do hope your letters arrive.

Yes, that's what I'm worried about. I hate paying under and other people having to pay the difference
I've had it before where my partners mother posted some wedding invitations but she was off by 6p.....they didn't give it to us until we paid £1.06!!!
Not sure what the rate would be for foreign countries though? Oh well, fingers crossed I guess! Thanks for all the help0 -

I would think they would give little leeway for the first couple of days so I wouldn't worry.0 -

Actually you should have been buying these since 30th March 2010 ....
... OR AT LEAST in the last week/month or more ...
for your postcards & letters (UNDER 20g) to EUROPE
These are NVI (No Value Indicated) stamps intended for under 20g to Europe
however they are just like the NVI 1st & 2nd class ones - basically they have an inherent value which increases when postage rates go up.
A 1st class stamp kept its 1st class value on 4/4/11 going from 41p to 46p
2nd class NVI going from 32p to 36p
This Europe 20g NVI was worth (you could have bought for) the 60p you mentioned.
On Monday they still were valid for a 20g European letter having "gone up" to 68p ...
.. which is what it will cost you to buy the same stamp today.
And, as you say, the previously 67p "option" is now 76p (Worldwide UNDER 10 grams)
If you have an over 10g but less than 20g requirement that's WORLDWIDE then this was the one to get
.. last week would have cost you 97p - this week £1.10
