Denied Halifax Clarity Card

You don't say!
Apply with my existing credit card empty and then spend on that.
I'm only asking as some people say that have received the clarity cards on a second application when their existing debt on credit cards was much lower. That looks more like a coincidence to me (with the limit at the same level, there is obviously the potential to quickly rack up debt to the previous levels) but I thought I'd check to make sure it wasn't the case.0 -

I'm not sure if that is the case
You were offered a Halifax credit card previously via internet banking and subsequently declined , that suggests that your behavioural score justifies a card and there is a policy decline
Why not check your behaviour score ?
is the internet banking offer pre-filled ?
They will blend your data at the branchHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Not entirely relevant but in June 11 Halifax systems are changing to be exactly like LloydsCan I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0

New info:
Having just been into my bank again to sort some more things out - I was also advised that if you have a 'basic' account open, and try to apply for a credit card or loan online (with the same bank as the basic account is held) it will automatically decline. The reason, I was told, is that the basic account flags you up as to have no borrowing facilities offered - no matter how good the history(!).
Very useful info in my opinion, and could explain a few declines to people who have now good credit history but still a basic account.
So, to get round it you need to apply for a regular current account first. Give it a month, so that their systems all refresh and the apply for the credit card/loan whatever at a later date. Of course, it's still down to you having a good credit history, but at least you will have got rid of the 'instant' decline by owning a basic account.
Hope this info helps some people...PMA - Positive Mental Attitude
It works for me - you try it!0 -

I get the pop up offering a credit card near enough every time I log in and it's in my "offers" section, but it never says guaranteed so I assumed it was just an advert and not targeted?
I can't remember if it was pre-filled or not - it was a while ago now, but I think I'll go into the branch today and see what they say. Can I just ask for my behavioural score? I was going to ask if they could look at the system and see if there's much chance of me being approved, but are they likely to just say there's a chance to get me to make the application?
And it's normally their normal credit card I'm being offered not clarity (which I assume is harder to get?) - but I'm not interested in that one.0 -

Not true in my case, I have a basic account with Halifax, just to get an Electron Card for flight purchases, I also have a Clarity Card with them, these are the only accounts that I hold with Halifax.0 -

Apologies, this was info linked to my previous posts - meaning NatWest, not Halifax.PMA - Positive Mental Attitude

I have the EasyCash card too, but was refused in March. Just applied again and was refused again.
Never been refused in my life before. I have £1,000s of credit available on cards, but have DDs to pay off in full every month. I have a wage well above the UK average and a mortgage due to be paid off in 2-3 years. I am no risk at all.
My missus has pretty much the same circumstances as me, but doesn't have an EasyCash card. She got accepted immediately back in March?
I can only assume it is my cheap flights card causing the problem?Jim.0 -
Their underwriters were obviously too lazy to review your credit file in great detail! If something had even slightly thrown out the credit score (e.g. details input not exactly matching the credit reference agency) then your credit score for the application would effectively be nil. The underwriters then have the privilege of searching for you on Experian/Equifax credit reference system by your surname & dob, they could have easily tracked down your credit file, got an accurate score and made an accurate review.
Clearly they's failed to do so. You should write to their complaints team and request that they remove the initial credit search, as this will have left a footprint on your file and may affect future scoring on credit applications.0
