Vodafone 3G dongle - end contract early?

Hi all,
I rely on my internet connection over 3G when I'm sending images for work. I (stupidly) signed up for Vodafone for two years, thinking they had the best coverage.
Big mistake. I can barely get a signal in my flat, 3G or otherwise. In central London, where I do most of my work, I get the fastest connection, full signal, and yet the upload speeds are dire.
I have asked to end my contract early, and they have told me that I need to pay the remainder.
Why should I pay the remainder for sub-standard service? This is not what I signed up for.
I have since bought a 3 Mobile dongle and it works fantastically well, with upload speeds quicker than my home Virgin Media cable connection!
Do I have any grounds to stand on, and am I likely to succeed?
Thanks!
John

Can anyone help?

You need to get a copy of your contract from vodafone (either in store or online) then their should be some get out clauses. These will be for both parties so if their are any relating to the quality of service you get or if anything is violated by the problems you are experiencing then you'll have something to take to them when complaining (and asking to get out of the contract)0

None of them guarantee 100% coverage so I doubt that they'll let you out without penalty. You should have checked the suitability within the time they do allow a no penalty cancellation which for most providers is only 7 days iirc.0

Hi John
Thank you for posting about your Mobile Broadband agreement. It’s disappointing to see that you are not fully satisfied with the network service being received in your area.
As your post has previously suggested, if you wish to terminate your agreement early, we would require an early termination fee. The early termination fee is calculated by multiplying your line rental cost excluding VAT by the amount of time remaining on your agreement.
You can check your coverage on Vodafone’s website with our Network Coverage Checker, and you can also leave feedback.
If you would like to find out the cost of your early termination fee, or you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to e-mail us, using WRT135 as the subject, and the link to this thread, and we’ll happily provide any further information you may require.
Kind Regards
Simon
