Have I got this right?
The unit you are referring to has a COP of 4, so you will get up to 2.8kW output for a 700 watt input. That is under ideal conditions? what is the average?
I am not sure what the average peak demand in kWh is for the average UK house, but the max output for most gas/oil boilers is in the range of 15-30kW.
So at the very least you would require several of these devices?
Then there are the running costs. Daytime electricity costs approx 10p/kWh so under ideal conditions you are producing heat at 2.5p/kWh which is about the same as gas. True on E7 rates it would be extremely cheap - so you could sleep without blankets!
The above are more questions than comments.0 -
700w is the average, the consumption on the inverter is 170-1110 w,
cop 4.02 is at a nominal +5 deg C, its ideal operating range is from -10 upwards
you could run the a/c on e7 in summer and get more sleep.0 -
Looking good, Pun. would need to re-assess on/off times.
Will ask around locally to see one working. Might ring up my expensive plumber.0 -
i think cardew makes a good point about the costs compared to gas, i didn't have that option being in the sticks.,0

This all sounds too good to be true! However, always the optimist - has anyone else had hands on experience of this, right from installation through to running costs?0
