BP Fuel card - Nectar points...
Options
Hi, ive just started a new job using a BP fuel card just about daily to the sum of £20-£40.
I use my nectar card with each swipe at the pump and the points are raising well, although what options are out there which I might be missing.. e.g. double points promos or other schemes I could be on which BP run?
Thanks in advance.

I take it you've registered your Nectar card and get emails from them? If not then register, change your profile to accept marketing if necessary. Some of the BP double points promotions have required you to click on links in the email to activate double points or whatever offer is running. The man without a signature.0

You can have an additional cardholder, so if your partner fills up with BP or at Salisbury's or just does some shopping at Salisbury's that can add some. My wife gets sent her own vouchers too.
I have a normal company fuel card but I tend to use BP most for the points as I do quite well off them. Otherwise I try to use Shell V-Max - really expensive but makes you go a bit quicker and I'm not paying! Shell have a points club - I just received a £10 gift voucher from that (Argos, B&Q,Next etc)
Also if your getting any energy products from British Gas go to their site and associate your card number to your BG account, get points for various things, even just being a customer.
If you buy anything from Ebay or Amazon, Argos (and many, many others) always go through the Nectar site links on the way to get the points.0 -
Use the card at Sainsburys and anywhere else if you ever go there. I think you can redeem the points for 1p per point instead of the usual 0.5p per point at ASK restaurants.0

Cool! Its the missus card I am using so will ask her to log in if registered and ensure we are getting the emails! Good point about Shell but its A routex card I can only use at BP stations... a little troublesome as they are not so widespread up north0

I have a BP fuel card too
Does anyone else notice that at some stations they swipe the nectar card first, where as most (I think) swipe it at end of transaction
Call me cynical ( see what this site has done to me ) but I was wondering if the early swipe was for 'show' and that they later swipe their own card later - now that would buld up quite a lot of points for them in a day - never had the time to check points wise
Being BP you woudl have assumed a standard IT setup and so same process between stations ?0 -
Is your employer happy for you to collect these points for your own use? Just asking because I know some places have a policy forbidding it.0

My boss advised I get a nectar card to get the points - so all is good there.
@ bob - Ive also noticed sometimes my points show up on the till LCD as "Was" and "Now" points... but not everytime! I will keep an eye on that!0 -

Not noticed - but whenever I have checked my transactions (you can do so in detail on the Nectar site) they have been spot on. If they are not there you can take it up with Nectar and get them added - I'm sure if anyone were fiddling on any scale it would soon get spotted - coz someone is going to double check what they've got.
BP stations are not necessarily owned by BP - many if not all of them are franchises who might well be set up in different ways according to their relationship with BP and/or Nectar.0 -
I'm sure I read somewhere that the till display will show your points at the 4 stations you use most often or something like that.
Sure BP would spot something odd if someone put 70 points on their card every 3 minutes... hopefully.
If your really regular user of BP and can get away with using Ultimate fuel then you should automatically make the Ultimate club - double points!

I consider the ultimate pump my own exclusive reserved pump, doesn't seem to be a rush of customers to buy Diesel at £1.46 a litre  fortunately company policy doesn't say I have to buy the cheapest and Ultimate does give a few more miles per gallon :whistle:0 -
If you've got an iPhone (might work on other Smart phones) then there's a Nectar app that sometimes has double points or similar promotions for BP.:A0
