External Control Panel on Storage Heater - Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
I hope somebody can help me because I had a £200 electricity bill for Nov, Jan and February which normally is £150 for a 2 bedroom flat.

I have 2 duoheaters in the living room; which I switch on. They have 2 plugs beside the duoheats, one I believe is for the economy 7 and one for the control panel. Which is a Dimplex one like this

I do not turn on the heaters (which are dimplex panel heaters) in my bedroom, but my flatmate may have when she is in.

I have set the output "auto" on low and on the programm I have set the heaters to heat up between 3-6 on full power.

So my logic was that if I set the output to low it will release the heat stored up very slowly and then when you want to release all the heat in the evening when I come in I turn it on the daytime mode.

We work both full time and really just need the heat 3-4 hours in the evening.

So why is my electricity bill so high? I have economy 7 and where do all this day time consumption come from?

Standard day energy
250 units at 15.66p each £39.15
Discounted day energy
845 units at 10.81p each £91.34
Night energy
1482 units at 4.28p each £63.43

Total charges before VAT £193.92
VAT at 5.00% on charges of £193.92 £9.69
TOTAL CHARGES THIS BILL INCLUDING VAT £203.61

Is that a £200 electricity bill per month or the whole quarter?

Has everyone forgotten how cold it was during December/January for about 5 weeks?. An increase of 33% over your typical bill is hardly surprising following that weather. £66 a month is not excessive overall for the winter quarter.
If you run the heaters outside of the E7 hours then you are paying for electricity at peak rate-however 57% of your consumption is still on cheap rate E7.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

£200 total electricity bill for a very cold winter quarter is excellent and way below average.

Incidentally your original post said "I had a £200 electricity bill for Nov, Jan and February" That is 4 months in December is included!

hmm... i had not thought about that? I guess its 4 months, and I was not sure that this winter was colder than the last. Thanks for pointing that out. I was just wondering how come, even with economy 7 I have got such a high day time electricity? That was all...
