Lawyers post-accident

I had an minor accident on an roundabout where I was heading straight behind a long truck and then suddenly on the roundabout a car hit me from the right trying to make the exit. Obviously the long truck blocked their vision but they told me it was my fault. This was my first ever accident and I know cars from the right have more right over you but I was already on the roundabout and they hit me causing (small) damage to my car.
Anyways the insurance called me asking if I wanted them to appoint the lawyers to deal with personal injury/uninsured losses etc or if I was going appoint my own and the fees will covered by insurance. So the question is which route is better to go through, insurance lawyers or private injury lawyers?
Thanks in advance. Much appreciated for any help.

I would recommend go with private lawyers as they will spend more time on your case as they would want there fee where as the insurance lawyers will want to settle quick and move on to the next case.

Why on earth do you need any lawyers? Where you actually injured in this minor prang?

The lawyers will only deal with personal injury and claiming compo - Your insurance company and the other party's insurance company will work out who was at fault, who should pay and how much.

So you pulled onto the roundabout and didn't give way to the vehicle already on it. You may need a good solicitor to DEFEND you from a claim by the third party...
  • That's exactly what I thought!

It doesn't matter if the lorry blocked their view. It was your view that was the important one and you shouldn't have pulled out if there was a vehicle approaching from your right, or if you couldn't see if anything was approaching.

If it was someone on a motorcycle, a small dent on your car would be the least of your worries.

it might be that the op was on the roundabout first ,i would say a motorist that was not reading road hit him,
see it too many times a day .
a car already on the round about and a car comes speeding up on the right and then think they have right off way and they have time to slow down,(if they hit the horn they got time to slow down)

to me the car on the right did not read the road right
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

Keep guessing chaps, with such limited info no one could judge who was to blame.

As allways we only ever hear one side of the story and human nature dictates it is the one favourable to 1st person:A:A
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

It still does not alter the fact that if there's no personal injury, there is no need for lawyers - it's for the insuance companies to sort out.

You don't have to be injured before you can use a lawyer (or a claim handler) to sort the claim for you.
