Well he replied to my reminder, and said the money would be with me shortly, that was Friday. So from that I would expect payment early next week, but won't hold my breath. It's now 10 days from auction end and still no money, on my current auctions I have asked to receive payment within 7 days of auction end. You learn something new with each transaction!

I just thought of a wee glitch that happened to me recently..... I bought an item and then after over a week ...thought funny ...not heard anything.I had better chase this up...after all I pay asap, sometimes in minutes of an auction closing.

So .... went on to ebay .... said paid ...so went to paypal..... not a trace!!! Now I remember I did it!! So went to online bank...no sign there either..... SO emailed selller saying that though I thought/knew I had gone through the procedure of buying I had no trace of it. They checked and lo and behold ... no trace ther either! Next morning ...... I gave the selller a chance to cancel if they wanted to, I paid by cheque....coz....not only could I not get to MY EBAY but paypal was down too!!! When things go wrong for me ...they go very wrong! I wonder if they were thinking I was pulling a fast one. I have apologized for the time delay. I hope they got my cheque!!!

Anyway....sometimes things go funny for no reason!
  • I have a non payer as well, my first. Where is the standard reminder email that ebay suggests you send. I can't find it !!
Once I've saved it I spend it !!

I once had a crossed postal order and didn't notice until I sent the item out that it was payable to my user id which is just a nonsense made up word and not my real name. I contacted the buyer and sent the postal order back and of course never heard anything again :-(

That was a long while ago now and I no longer accept postal orders due to the problems I was having with them.

You should have just written your name above and signed it...there would not be a problem cashing that. No doubt the buyer did just that!!!!! och well too long ago to worry about now I s'pose.

You can't cash a crossed postal order and a bank treat them like a cheque so payee must match the bank account they are being paid into.

Well, my NPBer still hasn't coughed up the dosh! I have been extremely lenient, when perhaps I shouldn't have been. It's been over 2 weeks since the auction finished, and I've only got info out of him when I've prompted him. I've given him 24 hours to reply to my last email otherwise I file an NPB. The reason I have waited, is that he does have good feedback, over 900, and most comment about fast payment, so there must be a problem. It's very frustrating, and time consuming, for what is a low price item. If communication were better that would be a help. I always keep sellers and buyers updated on payment, dispatch etc, I guess not everyone works to those standards!

Is there a time limit to file a NPB?

when do you leave a neg feedback in this situation
Similar to above, cutomer bid on item that ended 19/02/05, have sent reminder with no reply, have gone through ebay and they have sent unpaid reminder (is this same as none paying bidder report??). looking at the guys feedback (rickers0) he has a neutral feedback as they both agrred to pull out of sale as payment went missing, i suspect am being messed around and that he is not going to buy this item. do i neg him and risk another neg in return?? (my other neg was left by a user who was trying to con me and is now no longer registered)
  • Sometimes people's computers go down and they can't easily receive email.

The NPB is more important than the negative as the neg will get lost in his other feedback but the NPB stays on his account and if he gets three he loses his account for good.

If you filed a reminder through the 'report an unpaid item' then you have started the NPB process. 7 days after you start that process you can complete it and get your Final value fees back and a strike is left on the buyers account. If you don't complete the NPB process you don't get your fees back and the buyer gets away with an unblemished record, so go for it.

Also, one observation which I don't think you will like, a neg from this buyer will hurt you a lot more than it will hurt him. Your feedback percentage will drop like a stone and to be honest it will be too low for people even to check out the reasons for the negs. With sellers if I was desperate for an item I would look at the feedback actually left for sellers if they are showing 96-97% and make a decision on what I read. For feedback less than 96% I probably wouln't even click on the feedback score to see how it was made up.

I would suggest going with the NPB so you haven't lost anything except the listing fees, but hold off the feedback until he leaves somethng for you. Also, if he decides to pay now via paypal you are looking at a loss on th eitem anyway as the listing fees, FVFs and paypal charges will be a lot more than your end price.

    Hi Fuzzy,

You have 45 days in which to start the NPB process. If you've already waited 14 days past auction end I think you should go to start the process as you have already suggested. Once you start the process he will get a reminder and if you don't get payment within 7 days from that you can close the process and get your FVFs back.

As I mention in my reply above, I think the NPB process is more important than the feedback really. Feedback can get lost after a while, but three NPB strikes and a buyer is off ebay for good.

    HOpe it works out OK.
