Very silly questions about contracts
Hello,
I've always had pay as you go phones but my latest one (four years old and counting) is starting to get a bit past its best.
I haven't got the money to buy a new phone at the moment, so I was interested to see a contract offer with Carphone Warehouse on Virgin, which is the company I use already. It's £8.99 a month rising to £30 after 12 months. My questions are:
Can I simply cancel the contract after 12 months and go back to pay as you go? And if so, can I then keep the phone?
I know these are probably very naive questions but humour me!
Thanks
Sarah

yes you can
you can ask virgin to convert your contract to pay as you go (they may charge a small fee £10 etc, but most do it for free, or they will give you a PAC code which allows you to go onto orange, voda etc etc)
and yes you get to keep the phone, its yours once you take out the contract.

it depends if it is an 18 month contract or not. if it is then you will have to pay the last 6 months up front to cancel which will cost around £180.00.
make sure you find out all the details, absolutely everything but i seriously wouldn't recommend carphone warehouse, also if you drop the tariff your package changes so your bills may be bigger!!!
good luck chick
pm me with any concerns

make sure they do a coverage checker too to make sure the virgin network works where you live, work etc:TThe places i have been so far: Palma, Tunis, Rome, Corsica, St.Raphael, Naples, Pompeii, Barcelona, Villefranche, Ajaccio, Livorno, Genoa, Madiera, Martinique, St Maartens, St Kitts, St Vincents, Dominica, Barbados, Antigua, Tortola, Jealous anyone????? :T0 -
Thanks. I'm already on Virgin PAYG so I know the coverage is fine.
The contract is for 12 months. However I've just discovered that it's a cheque back thing, where I pay the £30 each month upfront and then they send me a cheque every four months to refund the excess. Sounds an awful lot of faff and far too many opps for me to screw up. THought it was too good to be true!0 -
