Talk Talk taken over my ISP.

Hi guys, hopefully this is in the right place.

Before Christmas we had a letter telling us that our ISP (Freedom to Surf) had been taken over by Talk Talk. Letter stated that as we paid by DD then we need do nothing. Wasn't really happy about Talk Talk but thought would give it a go.

Anyway so far so good apart from the fact they have not taken any payments for the last two months (some would say that was good), but I'm getting concerned now. I have spent the last two days trying to get hold of them and after spending 12 minutes each time whilst someone tells me I am "moving up the list" I eventually get a message that tells me they cannot connect me and to call back later:mad:. It's a freephone number so not really bothered about the cost it's just the time I have probably now spent about 1½hrs on the phone.

What can I do? OH will go through the roof if we get disconnected. Ooohh have just had a lightbulb moment to go on the web site and look for an email contact :o But will still post this in case someone out there can help.

Thanks peeps.

My Mum was Pipex then Opal/TalkTalk and they randomnly cancelled her service.... now it's 28 days to wait for the adsl tag to be removed from her line before a new ISP can set her up and no MAC available as the service was cancelled (not by her!) rather than migrated to another ISP.

    what a bunch of idiots.

thanks for your responses, I have managed to log on to our online account and have found a bill which is dated March 2011 and it says dd will be taken 17th March which seems promising. The only problem is the dd has been cancelled according to my bank but not by me? so this is a little puzzling.

Spannerzone this is what I am concerned about that they just cancel the connection, and I will have to wait to transfer to another ISP, OH will go ballistic if this happens, at least he has just got a mobile phone contract with unlimited data so that might keep him happy.

Oh well shall just have to wait and see what happens on the 17th. Thanks again for responding.

T&C usually sate mobile data unlimited is subject to FUP and may be as little as 500 mb .

Pipex/Opal/TalkTalk were utterly useless, we spoke to the UK admin/finance offices who said (after several calls) that they hadn't received any payments for 2 months, spoke to them another day and they said they confirmed payments had been received (but the bank clearly showed no payments had been made!)

After an hour or so to their 'tech support' I finally got an answer as to why the service wasn't working, the tech guy said the ADSL had been cancelled, no idea by who and I should ask BT!?!?!

More annoyingly, when first calling them to investigate the loss of service they said they'd upgrade to high speed at half the price... this naturally meant a new contract for 12 months... so after finding out they'd cancelled the service we then had to go back and cancel the upgrade which they wanted more payments for despite the service physically being cancelled... luckily (?) as we were still in the 7 day cooling off period we could cancel the free upgrade.... which was handy as I dread to think how they'd actually supply the service.

I was amazed that we'd spoken to so many people there and it took hours to discover the cancellation.

    Moronic!
