Declined for sainsbury nectar card

Thank you for the comments. I Notice some replies to questions on here tend to be negative as if the op is doing something sinister by applying for credit. Maybe some take the Martin Lewis expert mantras too far to the extend of being unfriendly. Easy.
Anyway here are the answers to some queries.
Yes I have a Halifax credit card for the past 5 years.
31 accounts is my total credit account over the last 8 years , currently 4 account active with 27 accounts settled and closed from over the years , I know this may sound excessive but 31 accounts only works out to be about 3-4 accounts average per year , with of course some years may have several checks depending on circumstances like buying a house etc.
All these accounts have been maintained 100% with no bad marks .
I don't see the problem with the amount as long as they are managed well. Also considering all these 31 accounts are not all credit cards, they are various forms of credit , from credit cards, loans, hire purchase for a car (now paid) store cards, finance for a tv, next account etc so IMO quite normal every day products for living and all been managed well.
Makes me wonder who their ideal customer is, surely their job
Is to make money whilst not taking on riskier customers where possible, well I fit both this criteria.
Saying it's better that sainsbury offer at least a reason for the decline unlike other companies doesn't really help when the reason given is absolutely false - they said my previous credit card repayment history did not meet they criteria - before the MSE jump in me I have also read martins page just like you and know each have their own criteria, but
It doesn't wash with me under my circumstances because I think I am a perfect customer for them. Now if they instead where honest and said we don't want to lend to you but give a genuine reason then fair enough but I just hate BS.
The card is a nectar credit card. This would be using for spending on.
Got accepted by Amex nectar card, paperwork cam through wine in from work tonight . 12,800 limit - so I would imagine my credit ain't too bad or would they give that amount to someone with bad repayment history, I would love to challenge them to prove any of there claim , they are lying. I ain't gonna loose any sleep, and to be honest don't really need 2 cards now as 12,800 is big enough for any purchases I need on the nectar points system.
